About the Author

Vasuki Shastry is an ESG and strategic communications expert who advises companies in the public and private sector on how to manage and mitigate risks. He was most recently the Global Head of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Standard Chartered Bank in London, where he had oversight over the bank's public policy, sustainability, and environmental/social risk functions. Prior to that, Shastry worked for the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in leadership roles in communications and public affairs. Besides his passion for ESG, Shastry is also a well-known expert on Asia with a research focus on economic and financial integration, global governance, and climate impact. He is the author of two books on Asia – Resurgent Indonesia – From Crisis to Confidence (2018) and Has Asia Lost It? – Dynamic Past, Turbulent Future (2021). Shastry is also a Commissioner of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) and divides his time between Washington, DC, and Dubai.
