Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explore the intersection of mindfulness practices and ethical decision-making within organisational leadership. Drawing from ancient Buddhist principles and contemporary neuroscience, this study aims to illuminate how mindfulness can enhance cognitive and emotional regulation, thereby fostering ethical behaviour and improved decision-making among leaders and employees. By examining the theoretical and practical implications of mindfulness in the context of organisational behaviour, this research seeks to contribute to the development of more compassionate, ethical and effective leadership practices, ultimately promoting a more mindful and sustainable business environment.
Design/methodology/approach
This concept paper explores the integration of mindfulness meditation practices with decision-making, particularly its influence on ethical choices, through a comparative study of modern techniques and the ancient teachings of the Tripitaka. Using a methodology that spans literature review in organisational behaviour and leadership, alongside in-depth analysis of the Tripitaka and contributions from scholars like Bhikkhu Bodhi, the paper examines the potential of mindfulness in enhancing ethical decision-making. It incorporates a range of sources, including peer-reviewed journals and seminal books across various disciplines, to underscore the transformative potential of mindfulness in addressing contemporary challenges and guiding leadership practices.
Findings
This discussion explores how mindfulness, rooted in ancient Buddhist philosophy and aligned with modern neuroscience, can significantly enhance managerial decision-making by fostering a balance between cognitive and emotional factors. It delves into the transformative potential of mindfulness in refining thought processes, promoting ethical decision-making and mitigating cognitive biases. By bridging traditional wisdom with contemporary scientific insights, the analysis underscores mindfulness as an active, dynamic process crucial for personal growth and effective leadership in complex environments.
Research limitations/implications
One limitation of this research is its reliance on theoretical frameworks and literature reviews, which may not capture the full range of practical challenges in implementing mindfulness practices within organisations. Additionally, the diversity in mindfulness methodologies and the subjective nature of mindfulness experiences may affect the generalisability of the findings. Future research should include empirical studies to validate the proposed benefits of mindfulness in organisational settings and explore the most effective strategies for integrating mindfulness practices into leadership and decision-making processes. This would help in understanding how mindfulness can be tailored to suit different organisational cultures and individual preferences.

This case involves a family-owned business that dealt with industrial tools and equipment and was experiencing strife between the first and second generations. The family firm was founded by two brothers, who later named their children to oversee the managerial side of the enterprise. The case serves as an example of how a family business can achieve new levels of success by adopting the appropriate tactics and carrying them out effectively among family members. The case also illustrates the need of succession planning in family businesses, involving the second generation, is regarded as a strategic move that will change the game. But a poorly executed or overly simple succession plan might also be problematic. Besides, the case also exemplifies miscommunication in family relationships, as seen in the argument between the uncle and nephew and its effects on business. Nevertheless, the issues must be resolved in order for the family business to proceed towards digitisation.

This case involves a traditional coffee shop that is family-owned and was experiencing problems with succession planning. The family business was started by the grandparents, who later named their son to run it. The third generation is now preparing to take over. The case serves as an example of family disputes, especially those involving siblings, are the most destructive to the peace of the family and can endanger the survival of the business. The case also illustrates a crucial stage for a family business which might lead to conflict when the founders hand authority over to the following generation. Lastly, the case also demonstrates that owners must carefully plan for succession in order to ensure that the administration of the business is in capable hands when they retire. The success of businesses depends on succession planning, particularly if the business wants to ensure that its performance will either stay the same or improve.

Abstract
This case concerns a family business in relation to renewable energy, property investment, construction services, civil engineering and mechanical and electrical engineering services. The family business was established by two founders who have subsequently appointed their children to handle the management side of the company. The case illustrates the importance of grooming founders' children with technical knowledge and skills in relation to the business area of specialisation. The case also reflects that an autocratic style of management by the founder can form a fragile organisation. When the founder becomes ill, trouble looms as everyone becomes lost when it comes to business direction particularly in times of unprecedented pandemic. This case shows what can happen when there is lack of communication, reasoning and succession planning can do to a family business.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is widely used in higher education teaching and learning. This trend of AI integration will continue to emerge within the education system. To stay ahead of the curve in the education realm, educators shall involve the usage of AI in teaching activities, assessments, and learning experiences. This book chapter aimed to highlight the challenges faced by higher education while proposing refined solutions to educators in involving the usage of AI tools in their teaching pedagogy. The suggested solutions were drafted from three different perspectives of AI to be integrated into its curriculum, namely the 3As triadic approach. Activities are identified as the essential asset to fostering a collaborative learning environment encouraging students to make use of cocreated AI in activities creation. Meanwhile, assessment preparation requires rigorous restrictions on AI usage to portray higher order thinking skills while abiding by ethical guidelines and legal framework. Academic content is prudent in ensuring latest findings and research are credible while bridging the gap between interactive academic materials with students' learning outcomes. Concurrently, we highlighted several approaches to achieve AI collaborative learning and enhance students' experience.
