Abstract
Purpose
Motivated by the real-world practice of the thriving e-commerce, manufacturers are transcending traditional boundaries of merely producing and selling directly by implementing encroachment. Concurrently, supply chain (SC) members who overlook the corporate social responsibility (CSR) sharing will be left behind, which is closely linked to their profits. This paper aims to investigate a better way to share CSR under the scenarios of manufacturer encroachment and no-encroachment.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper constructs game-theoretic models in a SC consisting of a manufacturer (M) and a retailer (R), where the manufacturer can sell products by retailing, and may sell directly by implicating encroachment. The manufacturer and retailer jointly consider whether to share CSR and the proportion of it by taking consumer surplus into account. Furthermore, equilibriums for each model are derived using backward induction. Then, the authors analyse the impact of CSR sharing proportion and compare the equilibrium outcomes under different scenarios. Finally, the numerical analyses are presented to verify the results.
Findings
Several interesting results are found in this paper. First, the retailer shares more CSR can benefit SC members and social welfare when the manufacturer does not implement encroachment. However, the results may change which is decided by the unit cost of encroachment when the manufacturer does so. Second, the proportion of CSR shared by manufacturer and the unit cost of encroachment has an interactive impact on equilibrium outcomes. Finally, both manufacturer encroachment and SC members share CSR may be the best for the perspective of SC members and consumers.
Practical implications
Based on the analytical results, this paper provides novel managerial implications to assist manufacturer and retailer in determining the optimal strategies for CSR sharing and encroachment. Furthermore, the appropriate proportion of CSR shared by manufacturer and the unit cost of encroachment may let manufacturer, retailer and consumer surplus achieve a win-win-win situation.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this paper is the first attempt to explore the strategy of CSR sharing under the scenarios of manufacturer encroachment and no-encroachment.

Abstract
Purpose
Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) can be used to fabricate complex extrusion die without the limitation of structures. Layer-by-layer processing leads to differences in microstructures and wear properties. This study aims to investigate the microstructure evolution and effects of tungsten carbide (WC) on the wear properties of LPBF-printed 18Ni300.
Design/methodology/approach
Economical spherical granulation-sintering-deoxygenation (GSD) WC-reinforced 18Ni300 steel matrix composites were produced by LPBF from powder mixtures of WC and 18Ni300. The effects of WC contents on anisotropic microstructures and wear properties of the composites were investigated.
Findings
The relative density is more than 99% for all the composites except 25% WC/18Ni300 composite. The grain sizes distributed on the top cross-section are smaller than those on the side cross-section. After adding WC particles, more high-angle grain boundaries and larger Schmid factor generate, and deformed grains decrease. With increasing WC contents, the hardness first decreases and then increases but the wear volume loss decreases. The side cross-section of the composite has higher hardness and better wear resistance. The 18Ni300 exhibits adhesive wear accompanying with abrasive wear, while plowing and fatigue wear are the predominant wear mechanisms of the composites.
Originality/value
Economical spherical GSD WC particles can be used to improve the wear resistance. The novel WC/18Ni300 composites are suitable for the application under the abrasive wear condition with low stress.

Abstract
Purpose
Near-surface mounted (NSM) fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) rod is extensively applied in reinforced concrete (RC) structures. The mechanical performances of NSM FRP-strengthened RC structures depend on the bond behavior between NSM reinforcement and concrete. This behavior is typically studied by performing pull-out tests; however, the failure behavior, which is crucial to the local debonding process, is not yet sufficiently understood.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, a three-dimensional meso-scale finite element method considering the cohesion and adhesion failures is presented to model the debonding failure process in pull-out tests of NSM FRP rod in concrete. The smeared crack model is used to capture the cohesion failures in the adhesive or concrete. The interfacial constitutive model is applied to simulate the adhesion failures on the FRP-adhesive and concrete-adhesive contact interfaces.
Findings
The present method is first validated by two simple examples and then applied to a practical NSM FRP system. This work studied in detail the debonding process, the bond failure types, the location of peak bond stress, the transmitting deformation in adhesive and the morphology of contact zone. The developed method provides a practical and convenient tool applicable for further investigations on the debonding mechanism for the NSM FRP rod in concrete.
Originality/value

Abstract
Purpose
This study/paper aims to develop fundamental understanding of mechanical properties for multiple fibre-reinforced materials by using a single-filament-wide tensile-testing approach.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, recently validated single-filament-wide tensile-testing specimens were used for four polymers with and without short-fibre reinforcement. Critically, this specimen construct facilitates filament orientation control, for representative longitudinal and transverse composite directions, and enables measurement of interlayer bonded area, which is impossible with “slicing” software but essential in effective property measurement. Tensile properties were studied along the direction of extruded filaments (F) and normal to the interlayer bond (Z) both experimentally and theoretically via the Kelly–Tyson model, bridging model and Halpin–Tsai model.
Findings
Even though the four matrix-material properties varied hugely (1,440% difference in ductility), consistent material-independent trends were identified when adding fibres: ductility reduced in both F- and Z-directions; stiffness and strength increased in F but decreased or remained similar in Z; Z:F strength anisotropy and stiffness anisotropy ratios increased. Z:F strain-at-break anisotropy ratio decreased; stiffness and strain-at-break anisotropy were most affected by changes to F properties, whereas strength anisotropy was most affected by changes to Z properties.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to assess interlayer bond strength of composite materials based on measured interlayer bond areas, and consistent fibre-induced properties and anisotropy were found. The results demonstrate the critical influence of mesostructure and microstructure for three-dimensional printed composites. The authors encourage future studies to use specimens with a similar level of control to eliminate structural defects (inter-filament voids and non-uniform filament orientation).

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the usefulness of neural network to explain the gap between behavior intention and actual behavior in the consumption of green products. The paper draws the base from theory of planned behavior (TPB) and social dilemma theory.
Design/methodology/approach
Artificial neural networks were used to analyze the data. A survey instrument was developed to understand the behavior pattern of customers while purchasing energy-efficient products. The outputs and input variables were identified and the input variables were divided into binary and discreet inputs.
Findings
The research attempts to identify the factors that drive as well as avoid green consumerism. It also details the measures that can be adapted to address the social dilemma of green consumerism. In general the paper identifies with the literature in eliciting that environmental consciousness does not drive green consumerism.
Research limitations/implications
The results of the study have important implications for practitioners as well as researchers. It is observed that neural network also provides inconclusive evidence for the intention behavior gap. This can be further explored by identifying different elements of environment consciousness and further testing.
Practical implications
Marketers need to have strategies interwoven with traditional influencers to promote their green offerings. The consumers expect a clear and measurable benefit to the green offerings that the marketers are marketing.
Originality/value
The research has its conceptual base in the TPB and social dilemma theory to understand the drivers of purchase behavior while evaluating an electronic product available in both energy efficient non-energy efficient rating scenario.

Purpose
This paper aims to improve the corrosion resistance performance and stability of PbO2 electrodes in chloride wastewater.
Design/methodology/approach
The morphology of PbO2-ZrO2 nanocomposite electrodes was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The open circuit potential (OCP) curves, anodic polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectra, accelerated life tests, weight-loss tests and reusability tests were used to study the corrosion resistance properties and stability of PbO2-ZrO2 nanocomposite electrodes in NaCl solution.
Findings
SEM showed that the surface morphology of PbO2-ZrO2 nanocomposite electrodes became compacted and smooth. Electrochemical tests showed that ZrO2 nanoparticles could increase the OCP, corrosion potential and charge transfer resistance, and decrease the corrosion current density in 3.5 Wt. per cent NaCl electrolyte solution. Besides, PbO2-ZrO2 nanocomposite electrodes showed high reusability for acetamiprid degradation, the accelerated service life could reach 146 h, which was almost 3.3 times longer than that of PbO2 electrodes (44 h), weight-loss tests showed that the corrosion resistance for PbO2-ZrO2 nanocomposite electrodes was 2.3 times as compared to PbO2 electrodes.
Originality/value
By the codeposition of ZrO2 nanoparticles, the corrosion resistance performance and stability of PbO2 electrodes in NaCl electrolyte were improved.

Abstract
Cobalt/gold hollow microspheres were successfully prepared through galvanic replacement in an organic solvent. The diameters of these hollow microspheres ranged from 800 nm to 1 μm. However, the surface of the hollow microsphere was very rough. Nanospikes of various lengths from about 40 to 100 nm were grown on the surface of these spheres. Initially, particles with "island-like" rough surfaces were found with the addition of 4 ml chloroauric acid (HAuCl4). When the volume of HAuCl4 increased from 4 to 5 ml, microspheres with a hollow structure were formed. Some broken microspheres were observed when HAuCl4 was further increased to 6 ml. X-ray diffraction results showed a high-intensity sharp peak of gold when the HAuCl4 in the sample increased. After the galvanic replacement reaction, the cobalt content in the sample decreased meanwhile the gold content increased. This can be seen from energy dispersive X-ray analysis spectroscopy and also evident from the thermo gravimetric analysis result. The hollow Au/Co microspheres showed two broad plasmonic peaks in the ultraviolet-visible measurement. The plasmonic peaks at longer wavelengths shifted to the near-infrared region with the addition of HAuCl4.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to establish an integrated framework of the antecedents of enforcement after contract violations in construction projects and to examine whether contract provisions (control and coordination provisions) and trust (goodwill and competence trust) affect enforcement mechanisms (contractual enforcement and relational enforcement).
Design/methodology/approach
A survey method was employed to test the hypotheses. The authors collected data from the Chinese construction industry, and general contractor respondents were asked to answer a questionnaire about a contract violation by one of their subcontractors.
Findings
Control provisions and competence trust are positively related to contractual enforcement, but goodwill trust is negatively related to contractual enforcement. Relational enforcement is influenced by goodwill trust and competence trust.
Research limitations/implications
This study treats contract violations as a given variable, and it focuses on contract violations by subcontractors. The cross-sectional design makes it difficult to confirm the causality of the relationships.
Practical implications
Overly strict contractual enforcement can generate disputes and a vicious cycle of retaliation, and overly severe relational enforcement can damage a potentially profitable long-term relationship. In construction projects, the violating party will benefit from this study to avoid excessively contractual enforcement and relational enforcement, thus developing a more collaborative atmosphere on the current project and even establishing a solid long-term relationship.
Originality/value
This study extends the project management literature by investigating the antecedents of enforcement after contract violations, an area not yet fully researched.
