Abstract
Purpose
Social enterprises are organizations striving to address social issues. These enterprises sell products to be self-sustainable. Social entrepreneurial success depends on the intention of consumers to purchase social enterprise products. This study aims to assess and understand the consumer intention to buy social enterprise products.
Design/methodology/approach
This descriptive study integrates consumers’ emotional values with the theory of planned behaviour as a framework. The intention is to investigate the role of customer emotion in mediating the relationship between predictor and predicted variables. A mixed sampling technique is adopted to select sample units from the consumers with a consideration for regional balance. Data from 336 respondents were collected using a survey instrument administered online.
Findings
Structural equation modelling shows that among the three predictor variables, only attitude has a direct impact on consumer’s purchase intention, while subjective norms have an indirect impact through the mediating variable (emotional value). Behavioural control showed no effect on consumer’s purchase intention of products sold by social enterprises.
Originality/value
The results of this study have theoretical as well as practical implications. The success of social enterprises depends on the acceptance of their products by consumers. The social enterprise can strategize its marketing communications to strengthen the emotional values, attitudes and subjective norms of the consumers so that the market acceptance for these products can be increased.

Abstract
Enumerates the factors which decide the feasibility of an expert system (ES) solution based on certain domain characteristics. Explains the points to be given importance while going for an ES solution. An attempt has been made to explain the major differences between DSSs (decision support systems) and ESs. The integration of symbolic and connectivist theories have resulted in the neural network ES, which can learn and adapt to situations, becoming an emerging trend. Certain facts about ESs which should be remembered by managers, in general, which can be treated as a set of guidelines for ES application, are also enumerated in the course of the article.

Abstract
The expert system for the selection of strategic planning technique was developed with a view of assisting an executive in selecting a strategic planning tool based on constraints such as: time, skill, finance, computer, expert advice, form and content of input, and form and content of output required to be generated. The expert system runs on IBM PC/AT or compatible, which is the minimum system requirement, and contains approximately 115 rules in the rule base. The expert system was developed in Turbo PrologTM. The premises which help in concluding a particular strategic planning tool are stored in separate file called ‘STRATEGY.DAT’ and can be consulted at the end of the session by the user. This file saves current session's premises which concluded the particular strategic planning tool. The system, after recommending a tool, outputs a list of planning phases where the implementation of such a strategic planning tool will succeed. It runs on a backward chaining inference mechanism which is a feature of Turbo PrologTM.

Abstract
Purpose
Expert database system (EDS), which is still in its infancy, is developed and demonstrated for a business function by coupling expert systems (ES) and database systems.
Design/methodology/approach
An EDS for inventory management (EDSIM) using the fifth generation artificial intelligence (AI) language, Prolog, is developed. The convergence of logic programming and database techniques is focused in achieving the objective. EDSIM development is based on modular design and integration of several intelligent modules, with own knowledge base and shared dynamic database.
Findings
EDSIM developed demonstrates the peculiarities of such an EDS over a system developed using conventional procedural language. It shows that development of such systems has great deployment potential in the next generation enterprise systems where embedded intelligence is inevitable.
Research limitations/implications
Though no attempt is made to demonstrate distributed processing and interaction among various intelligent autonomous modules, an initiative in that direction definitely can kindle reengineering of today's enterprise system.
Practical implications
The language chosen for the development of EDSIM is Turbo Prolog™ and can be easily converted to a program in Visual Prolog™ which is the newer version of Turbo Prolog™. The advantage of such a conversion is that it will enable web readiness of the EDS there by facilitating e‐business in the web environment.
Originality/value
The benefits of the application of EDS, by the integration of ES and database systems in a fifth generation AI language, Prolog, paves way for capturing developments in AI and databases, simultaneously. This technology demonstrator has the potential to bring in an optimal mix of the above technologies in achieving major milestones while reengineering enterprise systems.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate object‐oriented (OO) features in a language, suitable for artificial intelligence (AI), which will execute in a web environment. Earlier researchers have claimed that such a possibility will pave the way for better enterprise systems of tomorrow.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the key OO features, inheritance and polymorphism, are presented using suitable examples. Visual Prolog™ is the language used to demonstrate the examples and the same executes in web environment.
Findings
This premise definitely matches the fundamental rethinking and radical redesign of existing systems which can aptly be called business process reengineering (BPR) in this field of study. A monolithic/homogeneous expert database design based system supporting AI and OO capabilities which executes in web environment is the result of this study.
Research limitations/implications
There is no argument about the optimality of the search which is carried out while using this environment, which is purely based on the computer language used.
Practical implications
The power of similar environment has enormous potential in developing better enterprise systems of tomorrow. This declarative environment helps enterprise resource planning (ERP) evolve faster towards strategic decision making rather than remaining as transaction processing systems.
Originality/value
It is hoped that this paper will inspire other researchers in the field of BPR of existing ERP systems.

Abstract
Purpose
The role of business process re‐engineering (BPR) in implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is of paramount importance. A variety of approaches are used for such re‐engineering as the best‐fitting ERP solution can only give a maximum of 80 percent fit with the existing workflow of the organization in which ERP is being implemented. The aim of this paper is to focus on the issues involved.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper presents some sample ERP installations to come out with various types of business BPR, ranging from small‐r to big‐R, practised while implementing ERP.
Findings
Based on the literature review, it could be found that all organizations implementing ERP have chosen their own approach based on organizational constraints and the needs. The importance of BPR in ERP implementation is highlighted in earlier studies.
Research limitations/implications
The recursive relationship between BPR and information technology has only resulted in the rapid evolution of ERP systems. ERP integration with supply chain management and its web readiness are major agenda for ERP developers. Many re‐engineering possibilities are yet to evolve based on research in knowledge, artificial intelligence and expert database systems. A suitable approach to implement the same in an organization can only be done using the most suitable approach and hence the importance of the BPR approaches presented here along with their advantages and disadvantages.
Practical implications
As the various BPR approaches are categorized based on implementation followed by major corporations, it is definitely a forerunner for any ERP‐implementing organization under study. Also the common problems encountered during re‐engineering for ERP implementation and the suggested remedial measures are presented based on earlier work.
Originality/value
An attempt has been made to identify BPR problems, causes and approaches used in implementing ERP solutions. It is only aimed at synthesis of technical and general issues using the literature.

Abstract
Purpose
Green transformation is more than simply a trend; it is a way of life, a set of habits, a field of knowledge and a dedication to resource conservation. Going green is surely a creative and transformative process for both individuals and organizations. This paper aims to “identify,” “analyse” and “categorise” the readiness factors for green transformation process in health care using total interpretive structural modelling (TISM) and neutrosophic-MICMAC.
Design/methodology/approach
To address the study objectives, the study used TISM and neutrosophic-MICMAC analysis. To identify the readiness factors, a literature study was conducted, and the factors were face-validated by the healthcare experts. The factors influence on one another were captured by using a scheduled interview with a closed ended questionnaire. The TISM addressed the identification and analysing of factors and the categorization and ranking the readiness factors is addressed by using neutrosophic-MICMAC analysis.
Findings
This study identified 11 green transformation process readiness factors for healthcare organizations. The study states that the key factors or driving factors are awareness of green governance principle, environment leadership and management, green gap analysis, information and communication technology and innovation dynamics.
Research limitations/implications
The factor ranking is sensitive to the respondents’ ratings. The study relied on the past literature and experts’ opinion may result in the subjective biases. The complex nature of healthcare ecosystem challenges to capture all the factors. The study focussed on Indian hospitals.
Practical implications
Study significantly impacts the healthcare practitioners, academicians and policymakers by providing critical insights into the readiness factors required for the healthcare green transformation process. The study offers a better understanding of the crucial or key or driving factors that aid in embracing green and sustainable practices.
Originality/value
Identifying a gap in conceptual and theoretical frameworks for green transformation readiness factors in healthcare organizations and in Indian context. The study addresses this gap by aiming to create a thorough theoretical framework and highlighted by its focus on Indian hospitals.

Purpose
After the COVID-19 pandemic, companies from a variety of sectors began repurposing their product development and manufacturing activities. To be successful, repurposing requires a framework that illustrates Agile New Product Development (ANPD) and Industry 4.0 practices. The current study aims to focus on developing a framework that managers and decision-makers can use to successfully adopt ANPD-Industry 4.0 practices and decision-making activities.
Design/methodology/approach
Initially, a literature review is conducted to identify practices related to ANPD and Industry 4.0. Similarly, performance metrics are identified through a review of the literature. To compute the weights of the shortlisted practices, the Pythagorean fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process is used and the Pythagorean fuzzy Combined Compromise Solution (PFCoCoSo) method is used to rank the shortlisted performance metrics.
Findings
According to the findings, ANPD practices (ADP) are the most prominent among shortlisted practices. Following that are Technology Adoption Practices, Organizational Management Practices (OMP), Human Resource Management Practices and System Integration Practices. Customer requirement analysis, for example, is an ADP practice that has a significant impact on the successful repurposing of product development activities.
Practical implications
The identified practices can make a significant contribution during repurposing product development activities. Practices that promote sustainable product development, as well as the use of advanced technologies, will be beneficial in improving organizational performance. Managers can evaluate performance using performance metrics that have been prioritized.
Originality/value
After the COVID-19 pandemic, this could be the first of its kind to develop an RPD framework.

The world is on the verge of entering the deglobalization age, and industrialized economies have ushered it in. However, there is still a scarcity of comprehensive and rigorous studies in this field. This research has tried to analyze the evolution and characteristics of deglobalization research.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors have employed bibliometric analysis for examining the existing evidence on accelerating deglobalization thinking based on a thorough analysis of articles published during a roughly 25-year span between 1996 and 2022. This study has used the TISM-P technique to study the relationship among the factors accelerating deglobalization thinking. This research reviews the articles on several dimensions of deglobalization using the “what”, “why”, “how”, “who”, “when” and “where” approaches.
Findings
The authors specify the critical factors, policy reforms, approaches and observed characteristics explored in this developing research area.
Practical implications
The authors have analyzed the factors accountable for rising deglobalization thinking and also suggested strategic recommendations based on the findings to minimize the adverse impact of globalization.
Originality/value
Although there is a wealth of literature on globalization, very little study has been done in the field of deglobalization. This is the first substantive review being done in the deglobalization domain. The contemporary research has used the bibliometric approach and the “5W and 1 H” framework to gain a comprehensive understanding of the changing paradigm.

Abstract
Purpose
This study provides a systematic review of the literature within the manufacturing strategy (MS) domain focusing on the congruence aspect of different strategic functions to determine the state-of-the-art research progression and the trend of publications.
Design/methodology/approach
We have adopted a five-stage review methodology consisting - 1) Article Identification; 2) Inclusion/Exclusion; 3) Review of the Articles; 4) Literature Analysis; 5) Future research directions. 121 articles focusing on congruence aspects and specific to the MS domain are identified and reviewed. Bibliometric analysis comprising keyword co-occurrence using a VOSviewer© software, and citation analysis is performed. Further, content analysis is carried out to categorize articles based on the type of research methodology, type of tool/method used, and aspects considered for congruence study.
Findings
Based on the research gaps identified in the existing literature on the congruence aspect within the MS domain, this study offers future research directions. Majorly, the work found is an empirical survey. Literature scants to develop a framework that helps to quantify the congruence between two strategic functions.
Research limitations/implications
This study facilitates researchers and practitioners to understand the congruence between different strategic aspects studied in the literature and the level of fit between them. Further, the identified research directions can encourage researchers and practitioners to conceive novel approaches to conduct future works on congruence theme.
Originality/value
The unicity of the current review lies in its theme, i.e. congruence aspect within MS. To the best of author's knowledge, no comparable study is observed to review the congruence aspect in any other domain.
