Abstract
This paper provides a brief overview of recent developments in the field of self‐validating (SEVA) sensors. The fundamentals of SEVA are described, using the example of a dissolved oxygen sensor. UK standardisation activities are then discussed along with moves towards commercialisation. Finally, some recent research results based on a coriolis mass flow meter are presented.

Abstract
The use of frequency output for measurement transmission remains common in the design of smart transmitters. Conventional methods of frequency generation, based on counting clock cycles, have a precision which is inversely proportional to the frequency to be generated. Consequently, frequency output precision could be much lower than the measurement precision. This paper describes a simple frequency generation technique which, when implemented in low‐cost hardware, provides a precision of 10−6 per cent for all frequencies. The method represents an intermediate non‐available frequency by dithering between two exact frequencies. Averaging over some reasonably short timescale provides the desired frequency to high precision.

Abstract
This chapter provides a decolonial critique of Kenya’s encampment and asylum policy. By using a decolonial framework, the chapter examines how asylum, a supposedly humanitarian gesture, has become a political tool of deterrence, dehumanisation and detention in this country. In examining the camp through a decolonial lens, the author advances an Afrocentric perspective and foregrounds that asylum policy across the African continent, which is largely focussed on keeping asylum seekers on this continent, should be understood against the context of colonial relations in Africa. The author contrasts Kenya’s refugee camp with Australia’s offshore detention camp. Central to the author’s critique is Australia’s outsourcing of its offshore detention camps to Papua New Guinea and Nauru which epitomises a neo-colonial engagement with these post-colonies. Inspired by the author’s personal experience as a former refugee, this chapter also challenges refugee literature which is dominated by voices either without lived experience of the camp or produce work that is inadequately attentive to such knowledge.

DONCASTER'S new Central Library was formally opened on 29th December 1969 on precisely the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first public library in Doncaster. Conforming to tradition, the Library was opened by the Mayor of Doncaster, Councillor Marcus Outwin. The President of the Library Association, Mr. Wilfred Ashworth, addressed the assembled guests, his last official appointment before relinquishing the office.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to compare and contrast four academic liaison programs.
Design/methodology/approach
Areas addressed include liaison subject specialization, communication methods, duties, and program evaluation.
Findings
This paper found similarities in areas of orientation meetings, library guides, and information literacy classes. Unique concepts among the four libraries studied include physical classroom embedment, use of specialized class web pages, faculty literacy classes, and concentrated faculty information literacy assistance.
Originality/value
The results presented provide insight into current academic library liaison practices and the faculty‐liaison relationship.

In this chapter, the author explains the three components of Trilogy of Taoist Leadership – responsible business, responsible management and responsible leadership. The concepts of business, management and leadership are defined from multiple angles, including an etymological perspective. The historical origins and evolution of these three areas are explored to provide a comprehensive understanding. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the interconnections among the trilogy's components and illustrates how the trilogy can contribute to the development of sustainable organizations.

OF all the delightful recreations classed, for divers professional reasons, under the general designation of work, which cause the librarian's existence to be regarded with envious eyes as one of the most joyous and irresponsible on earth, the most delectable is surely that of cataloguing ; and the moments when the cataloguer feels himself fullest of enthusiasm, when he knows it would be impossible to exchange his lot with any human being, are those spent in the absorbing occupation of correcting proofs, for then to the more sensuous delights of the game are added the zest and ardour of combat. Some day I may, with the editor's sanction, make a few observations on the pleasures of cataloguing in general: for the present I am going to consider only this final phase. A curious feature of the pastime or “work,” to adopt the conventional phraseology, is that some people are unable to see the fun of it and innocently suppose the term “work” to be meant seriously. Still, when one reflects that every sport is looked upon by outsiders either as a deadly form of depravity, or as idiotically tedious and laborious, it is clear that this feature is neither wonderful nor exceptional. Golf, angling, football, punting, mountaineering, even book‐collecting, are each looked upon as “work” by those who love other kinds of recreation, which may yet be in reality not a whit less arduous.

Abstract
Purpose
As prior study offered further general context of knowledge management approach while misplaced more personal behavior development in the context of knowledge sharing practices, this study examined whether and why personal factors predict knowledge sharing practices. This study aims to integrate and analyze indicators such as altruism, grant, interaction ability and knowledge sharing participation to develop a comprehensive behavioral model.
Design/methodology/approach
Structural equation modeling was used to check the research hypotheses framework with 268 samples of eight profit companies in Indonesia, divided into broadcasting, banking and services company.
Findings
The results showed that altruism and interaction ability factors are significantly correlated with knowledge sharing participation. The findings may help companies and workers to initiate knowledge sharing implementation and encourage knowledge sharing in the internal company.
Research limitations/implications
The research focused on profit company in a single province in Indonesia. Further research may extend the study with a focus on non-profit organizations (e.g. academic institutions) and different geographical areas.
Practical implications
Managerial ideally creates standardization or regulation that to encourage participation of workers for transfer their knowledge. In this aspect, the company needs to organize, such as formal/informal training and meeting to make their workers more confident to communicate with each other.
Originality/value
Prior studies explored knowledge sharing behavior in a general sense; this paper examined the phenomenon specifically within the context of broadcasting, banking and services company in Indonesia, then analyzed the potential for a company to enhance their knowledge sharing strategy.
