This work sought to analyze targeted innovation strategies used during the pandemic to maintain companies’ competitiveness.
Abstract
Purpose
This work sought to analyze targeted innovation strategies used during the pandemic to maintain companies’ competitiveness.
Design/methodology/approach
The methodology was a systematic literature review, analyzing how these factors can be used as leverage in decision-making and suggesting a framework tool.
Findings
As a result, nine factors were identified as drivers to stimulate competitiveness, bringing insights to structure actions in times of crisis to support agribusiness.
Research limitations/implications
With this work, it is possible that other companies can base themselves and use the strategic drivers of innovation evidenced to remain competitive in the market during a period of crisis. As this is a systematic review of the literature, the application of a case study, for example, is a limitation, which could be a continuation of the work.
Practical implications
As this is a systematic review of the literature, the application of a case study, for example, is a limitation, which could be a continuation of the work.
Originality/value
This work has high value because it brings insights into strategic drivers of innovation that tend to leverage or maintain the competitiveness of agribusinesses in times of crisis. With the discussion carried out on the data obtained, it is possible that agribusinesses or other types of companies can be based for decision-making in a crisis scenario from innovative actions that generate competitive advantage.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a competitiveness measurement system for start-ups considering multiple critical success factors.
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose a competitiveness measurement system for start-ups considering multiple critical success factors.
Design/methodology/approach
The methodological approach uses concepts from key performance indicators (KPIs) and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) based on the fuzzy AHP (FAHP) methodology to weight the criteria related to fundamental points of view (FPVs) and critical success factors (CSFs).
Findings
Data collection was performed with 21 specialists and 28 start-ups, which returned the weights and performance of CSFs and FPVs related to the start-ups’ competitiveness. The results show only one start-up had a highly competitive global performance. In addition, all start-ups showed low competitiveness related to industry 4.0 technologies.
Originality/value
The article collaborates with existing research as a starting point for discussions on the subject, considering that previous research did not address the measurement of the start-ups’ competitiveness level through multiple factors, as developed in this article. In addition, we provide decision-makers and other stakeholders in the start-up ecosystem with a robust measurement system to assess business competitiveness and diagnose the company’s situation.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to develop a theoretical model composed of performance indicators divided into stages that represent a chronological order of the market development process.
Design/methodology/approach
The theoretical model presented by this paper was developed based on the information collected through three systematic reviews. The first review identified the steps that segment the market development process. The second and third systematic review sought to identify a set of indicators that are most used in companies' market development.
Findings
The paper develops a theoretical model that identifies the market development indicators that are most present in the current literature, dividing them into stages that represent the chronological order of the market development process.
Originality/value
A research opportunity was identified based on the investigation of the existing literature. The study collaborates with existing research and provides a model that guides companies in market development decisions and actions.

The purpose of this study is to determine if the Brazilian electricity sector is differently affected by the characteristics of the content in the regulatory legislation.
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to determine if the Brazilian electricity sector is differently affected by the characteristics of the content in the regulatory legislation.
Design/methodology/approach
For better robustness of the research, the authors analyzed the period from 1995 to 2013, totaling 4,510 observations. To this end, the selection of regulatory legislation was conducted through Markov regime switching. To identify the characteristics of profile and intensity of regulatory content in each legislation, we applied the content analysis technique.
Findings
The main findings of this study position this research in the vanguard regarding other research in the area by showing that all regulatory measures whose characteristics denote market profile of strong and medium intensity affect the risk of electric utilities in Brazil. As contribution from this research, it can be hypothesized that for provisional measures/laws events, the profile and intensity of regulatory content are relevant and have different impact on the risk of stocks and, therefore, should be considered in the design and development of public policies.
Originality/value
The paper investigates by means of content analysis, the profile and intensity characteristics of the content present in the regulatory legislation and to present the impact of these characteristics on the risk of the electric energy Sector in Brazil. The research results showed that it is not all regulatory events that impact the stock market. Therefore, regulatory risk estimates must consider the intensity and scope of each legislation, given that legislation with a higher regulatory content that seeks to modify the sector’s operating rules more deeply tends to have a greater impact on the risk of companies that operate in regulated sectors. Therefore, the paper shows originality and evolution for the researchers in the area, with new and significant information.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to show the implementation of a maintenance management model based on total productive maintenance (TPM) in a production line of a metallurgical company, with high-precision equipment requiring effective maintenance to maintain the quality of the production process.
Design/methodology/approach
Has been proposed a model for conducting the activities, emphasizing the training activities of the teams involved in the implementation, collection and analysis of industrial performance indicators from a year before the implementation of TPM. The development followed the timetable of activities and the results of these performance indicators were collected again after the application of the model.
Findings
It observed that after the implementation of TPM, and the results of these performance indicators were collected again after the application of the model. Thus, it is concluded that the TPM assists in improving industrial performance and competitiveness of the production line studied.
Originality/value
The angle, from which the paper approaches the TPM problem, is original for the studied company and shows positives results. It allows the company to apply the model in their others production lines and factories to achieve an improvement in industrial performance and competitiveness.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to draw a picture on the reality of furniture industries in relation to management practices for project design of new products.
Design/methodology/approach
In order to do so it was developed a multiple case study in three companies of the sector located in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. This study was based on verification criteria focussing on project’s lifecycle.
Findings
As a result, it was possible to detect major faults from the organizations examined, it was found that processes are analyzed in a non-formalized and non-standardized way and, thus, restricting the integration of the projective stages, which reduced the quality of the final product.
Originality/value
From the results obtained in the multiple case study, it was possible to propose actions managerial characteristics that demonstrate the process of design of new products as a result of an operational standard, integrated with the management practices of the organization.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the level of importance existing among the indicators that were previously defined for a Performance Measurement Systems (PMS) and are relative to franchises in Brazil, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology, together with a series of tests, which are responsible by verifying the degree of reliability, robustness and stability of the parameters used and the results obtained. As a result, the author suggests that the diagnosing of the five delimited indicators have different relevance assigned to them.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper reviews extant literatures in Franchise, PMS, Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), in specific the theory about AHP.
Findings
The authors found that it was possible justified, for both the relative and the evaluative method, that the I3 was the main point of the system and, as a consequence, be considered as priority when talking about sectorial development of franchises in Brazil. As for the other indicators, even being located in a level lower than I3, they must be taken into contemplation in these measurements, however, with a relatively inferior importance degree.
Practical implications
It was possible to better comprehend which economics and non-economic factors selected have a more predominance in the Brazilian franchise context, according to characteristics of the companies present.
Originality/value
The absence of scientific papers that describe the relevance level of the main factors that influence in the Brazilian franchise system.
