Abstract
Purpose
This study conducts a comparative analysis of the diversification effects of China's national carbon market (CEA) and the EU ETS Phase IV (EUA) within major commodity markets.
Design/methodology/approach
The study employs the TVP-VAR extension of the spillover index framework to scrutinize the information spillovers among the energy, agriculture, metal, and carbon markets. Subsequently, the study explores practical applications of these findings, emphasizing how investors can harness insights from information spillovers to refine their investment strategies.
Findings
First, the CEA provide ample opportunities for portfolio diversification between the energy, agriculture, and metal markets, a desirable feature that the EUA does not possess. Second, a portfolio comprising exclusively energy and carbon assets often exhibits the highest Sharpe ratio. Nevertheless, the inclusion of agricultural and metal commodities in a carbon-oriented portfolio may potentially compromise its performance. Finally, our results underscore the pronounced advantage of minimum spillover portfolios; particularly those that designed minimize net pairwise volatility spillover, in the context of China's national carbon market.
Originality/value
This study addresses the previously unexplored intersection of information spillovers and portfolio diversification in major commodity markets, with an emphasis on the role of CEA.

Abstract
This paper discusses the use of three-dimensional mapping software SolidWorks as a platform to build a parametric model of coal mine filling equipment and a model library of the equipment. The Solidworks software is used to create a near-realistic virtual environment to simulate and analyze the process of building a high-water filling station. In this way, designers can detect potential design flaws early and then optimize the design as much as possible before actual construction.

This paper aims to investigate whether single-name options trading prior to earnings announcements is more informative when there exist real activity manipulations.
Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate whether single-name options trading prior to earnings announcements is more informative when there exist real activity manipulations.
Design/methodology/approach
Using 5,419 earnings announcements during 2004–2018 made by 208 public US companies with relatively high options volumes ranked by the CBOE, the authors uncover two regularities using predictive regressions for stock return.
Findings
First, the total options volume up to twenty days pre-announcement is significantly higher than that in other periods only for earnings management firms; moreover, after detailing options characteristics, the authors find these intensive pre-announcement trading to be concentrated in transactions of in-the-money call and long-term maturity put options. Second, an increase in the single-name call minus put options volume can positively predict the underlying stock’s next-day excess return much better in real earnings management firms, with a larger magnitude of effect in periods right before regular earnings announcement dates.
Originality/value
This paper makes a marginal and novel contribution by showing that real earnings management can serve as a proxy for the potential profit from informed trading in options as the return predictability of options volume becomes stronger for firms that have the manipulation motive and indeed perform manipulative actions.

Abstract
Purpose
A model for calculating the global overpressure time history of a single cloud detonation from overpressure time history of discrete positions in the range of single cloud detonation is to be proposed and verified. The overpressure distribution produced by multiple cloud detonation and the influence of cloud spacing and fuel mass of every cloud on the overpressure distribution are to be studied.
Design/methodology/approach
A calculation method is used to obtain the global overpressure field distribution after single cloud detonation from the overpressure time history of discrete distance to detonation center after single cloud detonation. On this basis, the overpressure distribution produced by multi-cloud under different cloud spacing and different fuel mass conditions is obtained.
Findings
The results show that for 150 kg fuel, when the spacing of three clouds is 40 m, 50 m, respectively, the overpressure range of larger than 0.1 MPa is 5496.48 mˆ2 and 6235.2 mˆ2, which is 2.89 times and 3.28 times of that of single cloud detonation. The superposition effect can be ignored when the spacing between the three clouds is greater than 60 m. In the case of fixed cloud spacing, once the overpressure forms continuous effective superposition, the marginal utility of fuel decreases.
Originality/value
A model for calculating the global overpressure time history of a single cloud detonation from overpressure time history of discrete positions in the range of single cloud detonation is proposed and verified. Based on this method, the global overpressure field of single cloud detonation is reconstructed, and the superimposed overpressure distribution characteristics of three cloud detonation are calculated and analyzed.

Abstract
Because of the extensive use of long‐span structures in modern engineering, much attention has been given to the extent to which ground motion phase‐lags affect the internal forces of such structures. In this paper, this problem is studied from the aspect of random seismic analysis, i.e. the random seismic responses of long‐span structures are explored with the phase‐lags of the ground joints of the structures taken into account. The earthquake is regarded as a stationary random process. Formulae for calculating the random responses of the structural displacements and internal forces are derived. Numerical examples are presented which illustrate some basic features of such random response, and also show that the ground motion phase‐lags have considerable effects on structural safety analysis.

Abstract
Purpose
Phenolic epoxy vinyl ester resin (PEVER) is an advanced resin matrix, which has excellent heat resistance, electrical insulation. However, the brittleness and poor toughness of its curing product limited its application, so this paper aims to modify the PEVER with hyperbranched polyimide (HBPI), so as to enhance the toughness, heat resistance and dielectric properties of PEVER.
Design/methodology/approach
Hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer was used as the central reactant. Methyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride was used as the branching unit, stannous octoate was used as the catalyst and hydroquinone was prepared as the inhibitor. Then, the hyperbranched structure of HBPI was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer and 13C-NMR. Next, PEVER was mixed with different contents of HBPI, and then the authors tested its curing product.
Findings
It is found that with the addition of HBPI, the free volume of the system was increased and the content of polar groups was decreased in each unit space, so the dielectric constant (ε) and the dielectric loss (tanδ) were decreased. In addition, PEVER could be well toughened by HBPI and the thermal stability of PEVER was improved.
Originality/value
HBPI has excellent heat resistance. The addition of hyperbranched polymer increases the free volume of the system so it can slow down the transfer of stress and its nearly circular structure can absorb the impact energy from all directions. Moreover, an appropriate amount of free volume can decrease the dielectric constant of PEVER by reducing the content of polar groups.

Abstract
Purpose
Traditional nondestructive failure localization techniques are increasingly difficult to meet the requirements of high density and integration of system in package (SIP) devices in terms of resolution and accuracy. Time domain reflection (TDR) is recognized as a novel positioning analysis technology gradually being used in the electronics industry because of the good compatibility, high accuracy and high efficiency. However, there are limited reports focus on the application of TDR technology to SiP devices.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, the authors used the TDR technique to locate the failure of SiP devices, and the results showed that the TDR technique can accurately locate the cracking of internal solder joints of SiP devices.
Findings
The measured transmission rate of electromagnetic wave signal was 9.56 × 107 m/s in the experimental SiP devices. In addition, the TDR technique successfully located the failure point, which was mainly caused by the cracking of the solder joint at the edge of the SiP device after 1,500 thermal cycles.
Originality/value
TDR technology is creatively applied to SiP device failure location, and quantitative analysis is realized.

Abstract
Purpose
Epoxy resin (EP) is a kind of thermosetting resin, and its application is usually limited by poor toughness. In this case, a type of new flexible chain blocking hyperbranched polyester (HBP) was designed and synthesized. The purpose of this study is to enhance the toughness and dielectric properties of EP.
Design/methodology/approach
P-toluene sulfonic acid was used as the catalyst, with dimethy propionic acid as the branch unit and pentaerythritol as the core in the experiment. Then, n-hexanoic acid and n-caprylic acid were, respectively, put to gain HBP with a n-hexanoic acid and n-caprylic acid capped structure. The microstructure, mechanical properties, insulation properties and dielectric properties of the composite were characterized for the purpose of finding the appropriate proportion of HBP.
Findings
HBP enhanced the toughness of epoxy-cured products by interpenetrating polymer network structure between the flexible chain of HBP and the EP molecular chain. Meanwhile, HBP reduced the ε and tgδ of the epoxy anhydride-cured product by reducing the number of polar groups per unit volume of the EP through free volumes.
Research limitations/implications
Yet EP is a kind of thermosetting resin, which is widely used in coating, aerospace, electronics, polymer composites and military fields, but it is usually limited by poor toughness. In a word, it is an urgent priority to develop new EP with better toughness and mechanical properties.
Originality/value
At present, HBP has been applied as a new kind of toughening strategy and as a modifier for EP. According to the toughening mechanism of HBP modified EP, the free volume of HBP creates a space for the EP molecule to move around when loaded. Moreover, the free volume could cause the dielectric constant of EP to diminish by reducing the content of polarizable groups. Meanwhile, the addition of HBP with flexible chains grafted to the EP could develop an interpenetrating network structure, thus further enhancing the toughness of EP

Abstract
Purpose
In regarding to operational efficiency and safety improvements, multiple tower crane service scheduling problem is one of the main problems related to tower crane operation but receives limited attention. The current work presents an optimization model for scheduling multiple tower cranes' service with overlapping areas while achieving collision-free between cranes.
Design/methodology/approach
The cooperative coevolutionary genetic algorithm (CCGA) was proposed to solve this model. Considering the possible types of cross-tasks, through effectively allocating overlapping area tasks to each crane and then prioritizing the assigned tasks for each crane, the makespan of tower cranes was minimized and the crane collision avoidance was achieved by only allowing one crane entering the overlapping area at one time. A case study of the mega project Daxing International Airport has been investigated to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm.
Findings
The computational results showed that the CCGA algorithm outperforms two compared algorithms in terms of the optimal makespan and the CPU time. Also, the convergence of CCGA was discussed and compared, which was better than that of traditional genetic algorithm (TGA) for small-sized set (50 tasks) and was almost the same as TGA for large-sized sets.
Originality/value
This paper can provide new perspectives on multiple tower crane service sequencing problem. The proposed model and algorithm can be applied directly to enhance the operational efficiency of tower cranes on construction site.

Abstract
Purpose
A densely distributed network radar system compensates for the disadvantages of sparse radars and poses a significant threat to low-altitude penetration by an unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV). Unlike previous studies, this paper aims to consider radar blind areas and proposes a rapid online method for planning low-altitude penetration paths.
Design/methodology/approach
First, the optimization problem coupling digital elevation map (DEM), radar detection probability model and nonholonomic UCAV kinematic model is established. Second, an online solution framework of penetration path planning is constructed. An intervisibility method and map scaling are proposed to generate a detection probability map (DPM). Through completeness and consistency analysis, an adaptive hybrid A* algorithm with fast local replanning strategy is proposed to search a path that takes into account time-consuming, detection probability under nonholonomic constraints. Finally, three scenarios of multiple known, pop-up and vanished static radars are simulated using C++. The computational performance is compared and analyzed.
Findings
The results showed that the proposed online method can generate low-detection-probability penetration paths within subseconds.
Originality/value
This paper provides a new online method to plan UCAV penetration trajectory in military and academic contexts.
