Abstract
This paper presents the architecture for a new finite element program written in the C++ programming language. A powerful command interpreter allows the user not only to introduce data, but also to define the algorithms that will treat this data to obtain the desired results. In this way, the program can be very easily configured to new computational strategies. By following an object‐oriented programming technique, we expect the program would not fall into the “stagnation” state that affects large finite element codes currently in use.

Abstract
Presents the development of object‐oriented finite element classes based on the concept of parameterized types of templates of the C++ programming language. Two parameter array classes were implemented which are used extensively in other classes. The implementation was simple, resulting in a set of manageable, efficient and simple C++ finite element classes. Initially, object‐oriented programming concepts, C++ templates and template array classes are presented. The finite element classes and some examples using those classes are also discussed.

Abstract
Purpose
The main aim of this paper is to investigate the influence of the cavity coverage on the printed circuit boards (PCB) to the resonant frequency, acceleration and displacement.
Design/methodology/approach
Tests were realized on four PCBs with different cavity areas. Frequency range of tests was between 10 and 2,000 Hz with 0.3 g acceleration amplitude. In addition, more simulations were performed to check different setups of the boards.
Findings
From the calculated and measured data, it is clear that with the larger cavity area the resonance frequency drops. In case a greater number of components placed in cavities are needed on board, it is appropriate to use multiple smaller cavities than the bigger ones.
Originality/value
Results in this paper could be very useful for PCB manufacturers and designers during designing of the new PCBs with cavities for dipped components.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to provide an integrated group decision support system (GDSS) that will select the appropriate human resource (HR) capabilities for a firm by using existing decision algorithms and information technology (IT) software systems.
Design/methodology/approach
The proposed GDSS is constructed by taking advantage of the characteristics of some existing analytical and mathematical methods, including electronic focus groups, value chain, HR scorecard, synergy analysis, gap analysis, analytic hierarchy process based on genetic algorithms (GA‐AHP), similarity measures, fuzzy set theory, and fuzzy mathematics programming. A case study is performed to test and evaluate the performance and usability of the GDSS and to identify whether or not it achieved its designed purpose.
Findings
The results show that the proposed GDSS can create a flexible and user‐friendly environment that aids managers and other relevant staff members in evaluating all relevant factors in selecting a firm's HR capabilities.
Practical implications
HR capabilities have a significant effect on business performance in the long term. However, not every firm can easily develop suitable HR capability strategies due to lacking of the adapted support tool. The proposed GDSS is proposed to provide a complete procedure to support managers using a strategy‐oriented perspective to decide the right HR capability to be developed. As the result of using the proposed GDSS, tasks are simplified and the time for HR capability analysis can be significantly reduced.
Originality/value
Few studies have discussed the application of IT to the selection of HR capabilities in facilitating managers in the strategic formulation process. This paper particularly focuses on the question of how firms can actually identify HR capabilities. Thus, the model‐developing nature‐oriented support system is provided for managers in solving such decision‐making problems.

Abstract
Purpose
Effective management of shopping centres requires a good understanding of the consumers' behaviour and preferences as well as meeting the demand-side needs. The purpose of this paper is to elucidate the factors affecting the frequency of shopping centres' visits, providing implications for shopping centre managers from the perspective of a Czech consumer.
Design/methodology/approach
The study was carried out in one of the Czech shopping centres in Brno due to its potentially standardisable common characteristics derived from the observation in the scatter plot. The standardized questionnaire survey on consumer shopping behaviour was conducted on a sample of more than 1,000 customers. The linear probability model and the logit model were applied to estimate impacts of included sociodemographic variables on the outcome.
Findings
The findings on the frequency of visits give an overview of the sociodemographic and spatial determinants increasing the visit regularity. From the managerial point of view, the importance of customers' activities and purposes is highlighted.
Practical implications
The implications can be provided to managers challenging to demand management and considering the investment projects. We come up with certain suggestions in terms of market segmentation, based on sociodemographic characteristics and shopping behaviour.
Originality/value
The paper provides insights into the preferences of the Czech consumers and extends the previous analysis of shopping behaviour by developing the statistical properties and demonstrating the variables and their influence on the frequency of visit.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the nature and trends in sustainability education and climate change (SECC) in higher education using a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the literature indexed in the Scopus database.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were extracted from the Scopus database using the keywords “sustainability education” and “climate change” to ensure extensive coverage. Total 14,465 research papers on both topics were analyzed using the VOSviewer software.
Findings
The bibliometric analysis reveals the mapping of scientific research across countries and the cooccurrence of research keywords, providing insights into research trends and future directions in SECC in higher education.
Practical implications
Based on the thematic map created to highlight future research directions on curricula for SECC in higher education, the analysis has identified several potential research areas, such as interdisciplinary research, transformative education, carbon footprint, students and higher education community well-being, climate change mitigation curriculum and behavioral studies.
Originality/value
This analysis offers epistemological foundations for generating knowledge and advancing curricula for SECC in higher education institutions.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to present an accurate magnetic equivalent circuit for modeling the cylindrical electromagnet so that by analyzing it, the magnetic flux density in different parts of the electromagnet, as well as its lifting force, can be calculated.
Design/methodology/approach
The structure of the electromagnet is divided into parts that can be modeled by lumped element parameters. Mathematical equations for calculating these elements are presented and proved. The axial symmetry of the cylindrical electromagnet made it possible to use planar circuits for its modeling. To increase the accuracy of the proposed equivalent circuit, attention has been paid to the leakage flux as well as the nonlinear behavior of the ferromagnetic core. Also, the curvature of the magnetic flux path is considered in the calculation of the corner permeances of the core.
Findings
The magnetic flux density in different parts of the electromagnet was calculated using nodal analysis of the circuit and compared to the results of the finite element method. Also, a test bed was established to measure the lifting force of the electromagnet. Comparing the results shows a difference of less than 3% which indicate the good accuracy of the proposed circuit. In addition, due to the curvature of the flux path, there is a no-flux region in the center of the disk, the extent of which depends on the thickness of the disk and the diameter of the middle leg.
Originality/value
Magnetic equivalent circuit is a new contribution to analyze the cylindrical electromagnet and calculate its lifting force with good accuracy. The circuit lumped elements can be quickly calculated using mathematical equations and software such as MATLAB according to the actual path of the magnetic flux. Compared to other methods, the proposed circuit analyzes the electromagnet in a shorter period of time. This is the most important advantage of the proposed circuit model.
