Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to propose a non-classical method to obtain efficient and accurate numerical solutions of the advection–diffusion–reaction equations.
Design/methodology/approach
Unlike conventional numerical methods, this study proposes a numerical scheme using outer Newton iteration applied to a time-dependent PDE. The linearized time dependent PDE is discretized by trapezoidal rule, which is second order in time, and by spline-based finite difference method of fourth order in space.
Findings
Using the proposed technique, even when relatively large time step sizes are used in computations, the efficiency of the proposed procedure is very clear for the numerical examples in comparison with the existing classical methods.
Originality/value
This study, unlike these classical methods, proposes an alternative approach based on linearizing the nonlinear problem at first, and then discretizing it by an appropriate scheme. This technique helps to avoid considering the convergence issues of Newton iteration applied to nonlinear algebraic system containing many unknowns at each time step if an implicit method is used in time discretization. The linearized PDE can be solved by implicit time integrator, which enables the use of large time step size.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to implement the variational iteration method and the homotopy perturbation method to give a rational approximation solution of the foam drainage equation with time‐ and space‐fractional derivatives.
Design/methodology/approach
The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. In these schemes, the solution takes the form of a convergent series with easily computable components.
Findings
Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the present methods.
Originality/value
Results show that the proposed schemes are very effective and convenient for solving linear and nonlinear fractional differential equations with high accuracy.

This paper aims to address the production of biocomposite nanofibers using luffa natural fibers and polyaniline conductive polymer/polyethylene oxides (PANI/PEO).
Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to address the production of biocomposite nanofibers using luffa natural fibers and polyaniline conductive polymer/polyethylene oxides (PANI/PEO).
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, luffa natural fibers are extracted by chemical method. After mixing the treated luffa (TL) with the PANI/PEO solution, TL/PANI/PEO nanofibers were produced by electrospinning (ES) method under different ES parameters to examine the optimal conditions for nanofiber production. Then TL/PANI/PEO biocomposite nanofibers prepared in different weight ratios were produced to analyze the effects of luffa in the morphology and thermal properties of the biocomposite nanofibers. The characterization analysis of TL/PANI/PEO biocomposite nanofibers was performed by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis methods.
Findings
The analysis shows that different weight ratios of TL to PANI/PEO changed the morphology of the membrane. When increasing the weight ratio of TL, the morphological structure of TL/PANI/PEO transformed from nanofiber structure to thin film structure. The appearance of O—H peaks in the FTIR results proved the existence of TL in PANI/PEO nanofibers (membrane). Moreover, an increase in the weight ratio of luffa from 2% to 7.5% leads to an increase in the peak intensity of the O—H group. Regarding DSC analysis, biocomposite nanofibers improved the thermal properties. According to all results, 2%wt TL/PANI/PEO showed optimal morphological properties.
Originality/value
Plant cellulose was extracted from the luffa, one of the natural fibers, by method of alkali treatment. A new type of biocomposite nanofibers was produced using TL blend with PANI via electrospinning method.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to determine the knowledge and attitudes of the physicians regarding human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), to emphasize that these patients exist and they will exist in the future and to raise awareness so as to prevent that their rights to treatment are revoked.
Design/methodology/approach
The survey was conducted via a link sent through an online system. Random physicians from 81 cities of the country were invited to the survey. The survey has 41 questions regarding knowledge and attitudes in total, including epidemiological information such as age, gender and title.
Findings
A total of 3,107 physicians has voluntarily participated in the study. In total, 2,195 (70.7%) are internal physicians and 912 (29.3%) are surgical physicians among the participant physicians. In total, 1,452 (46.7%) of the participants are specialist physicians, 608 (19.6%) of the participants are practising physician and the rest of it is physician assistants, academicians and dentists, respectively.
Originality/value
In this study, it has been found out that the physicians have a lack of knowledge on HIV/AIDS and they adopt a discriminatory attitude towards HIV-positive persons. HIV-positive patients who are exposed to discrimination and scared of being uncovered refrain from applying to hospitals for treatment, which puts public health into jeopardy due to the high viral load and these patients are faced with difficulties in coping with both medical and emotional load of the disease.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the theoretical relationship between experience quality (EXQ), satisfaction and the behavioral intentions (BI) of Motocross World Championship spectators.
Design/methodology/approach
The research data were collected from spectators who participated in the World Motocross Championship race held in Afyon, Turkey in 2018. The structural equation model (SEM) was used to test the relationship among the research variables.
Findings
The results showed EXQ had significant and direct effects on satisfaction and BI. In addition to this, satisfaction had a partial mediating effect between EXQ and BI.
Originality/value
To date there has been no empirical study examining the consumer behaviors of motocross event spectators. Consequently, this research provides important contributions to the literature and informs event organizers about the role of EXQ in terms of understanding the behavior of motocross event spectators.
