Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to obtain a list of recommendations addressed by the information technology (IT) governance enablers in relation to IoT implementation. The reason behind this it is the lack of information about these instances which could the organizations to be more effective when implementing IoT.
Design/methodology/approach
The objectives will be obtained using the methodology – systematic literature review.
Findings
During the research, a list of recommendations was created on each IT governance enabler in relation to IoT implementation, showing the flaws that exist at the literature level for each enabler.
Originality/value
The state of art of this research is a creation of a list of recommendations according to IT governance enablers to be applied on an IoT implementation.

Abstract
The accounts of moral reform that nineteenth-century convicts offered the officials in charge were frequently characterized by such uniformity that it caused Dickens to mistrust their sincerity and to brand them scornfully as “pattern penitence.” Unlike Dickens, however, prison officials were more willing to credit the questionable authenticity of “patterned” repentance. The paper argues that rather than an effect of personal gullibility, reformers’ attitudes can be seen as an outcome of specific interpretative strategies which, in turn, constituted a response to several institutional challenges facing the nineteenth-century Penitentiary.

Abstract
The recent COVID-19 virus outbreak, as well as many other global risks, has put the tourism industry on the brink of collapse. Even if interesting advances have been seen the light of publicity based on risk perception, no less true seems to be that the current theory is not enough to understand and describe the impacts of new global risks that may destroy the industry in question of weeks. This introductory chapter gives a snapshot on the fragile conditions we are moving today and interrogates further the future of tourism.
Since it was adopted from psychology just after the turn of twentieth century, risk perception theory has multiplied and successfully evolved in the fields of tourism research. A dearth of studies has focused on risk perception over the recent decades. We have certainly identified three clear-cut traditions: demographical school, psychological school and critical perspective. With benefits and problems each theory has shed light trying to measure the impact of global risks in the tourism and hospitality industries.
This book keeps the originality to update what has been published in the earlier decades. We are incorporating new topics to the discussion as well as new epistemologies and methodologies. Gathering different high-quality products authored by well-renowned authors coming from different countries, it lays the foundations to a new understanding of risk perception and tourism safety-security debating the next steps and the real challenges posed on the industry in a not so long near future.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to extend existing knowledge of 4D printing, in line with Khoo et al. (2015) who defined the production of 4D printing using a single material, and 4D printing of multiple materials. It is proposed that 4D printing can be achieved through the use of functionally graded materials (FGMs) that involve gradational mixing of materials and are produced using an additive manufacturing (AM) technique to achieve a single component.
Design/methodology/approach
The latest state-of-the-art literature was extensively reviewed, covering aspects of materials, processes, computer-aided design (CAD), applications and made recommendations for future work.
Findings
This paper clarifies that functionally graded additive manufacturing (FGAM) is defined as a single AM process that includes the gradational mixing of materials to fabricate freeform geometries with variable properties within one component. The paper also covers aspects of materials, processes, CAD, applications and makes recommendations for future work.
Research limitations/implications
This paper examines the relationship between FGAM and 4D printing and defines FGAM as a single AM process involving gradational mixing of materials to fabricate freeform geometries with variable properties within one component. FGAM requires better computational tools for modelling, simulation and fabrication because current CAD systems are incapable of supporting the FGAM workflow.
Practical implications
It is also identified that other factors, such as strength, type of materials, etc., must be taken into account when selecting an appropriate process for FGAM. More research needs to be conducted on improving the performance of FGAM processes through extensive characterisation of FGMs to generate a comprehensive database and to develop a predictive model for proper process control. It is expected that future work will focus on both material characterisation as well as seamless FGAM control processes.
Originality/value

Abstract
China and the United States represent the two largest greenhouse gas emitters in the world. Studies on how US companies react to the natural environment are plentiful and show that stakeholders are one of the key drivers for green decisions. However, we have limited understanding of the stakeholder pressure faced by firms in China. Drawing on stakeholder theory, this study builds from in-depth interviews with 32 businesses in China. We show that government, customers, employees, suppliers, investors, and community are stakeholders most mentioned. Interestingly, findings also seem to suggest that the perceived pressures of non-profit organizations (NGOs) differ by the form of ownership. Multinational firms often view NGOs as allies, while Chinese firms downplay them as powerless and unimportant. Although stakeholders are seen as both threat and opportunity, two-thirds of those surveyed in this study focused on opportunity as opposed to threat.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to bridge the gap in the existing literature by exploring BPM practices applied to HRM to optimize organizational performance, identifying key thematic clusters and highlighting potential areas for future research.
Design/methodology/approach
After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 177 papers on BPM practices in HRM were selected. This sample was used for a bibliometric assessment based on the co-occurrence of terms technique. We also described key studies on BPM in HRM.
Findings
The analysis identified five key theoretical clusters, highlighted the benefits of BPM in enhancing HRM, such as improved leadership, knowledge management, sustainability, performance and talent management and noted challenges in BPM implementation.
Originality/value
By synthesizing existing literature, this research enriches scholarly understanding and offers practical insights for HR practitioners aiming to optimize organizational performance. The findings emphasize the importance of considering human-centric perspectives in BPM and provide practical guidance for HR professionals aiming to enhance organizational performance through improved BPM practices.

Purpose
In recent years, there have been many discoveries in terms of identifying and measuring innovation competencies (ICs) but not regarding the process of shaping such ICs. This study aims to understand how ICs are shaped in a corporate environment and thereby broaden the existing knowledge on IC development in the business context
Design/methodology/approach
The authors conduct a qualitative study using the design science research methodology. This methodology makes it possible to find solutions instead of merely explaining the research problem and generates a greater impact through artifact creation.
Findings
This study proposes the use of the innovation competencies development cycle, a tool that develops employee ICs and comprises a diagnostic stage and six fundamental stages. The diagnosis stage is intended to analyze whether the environment in which the tool will be applied has the required foundation to guarantee its effective functioning and obtain the expected results. The other six stages are designed mainly using the innovation pedagogy approach, the individual IC behaviors and the experimental learning.
Research limitations/implications
The study’s limitations include the application of the tool to a single sector and company size. In addition, the sample of participating employees was reduced.
Practical implications
This study has practical implications in the field of management, as it delivers a tool that can be applied to business companies. This tool aims to help managers shape innovation skills in their employees.
Social implications
This study contributes with a real proposal for a tool to shape innovation competencies. This study will help employees and organizations become more innovative.
Originality/value
The IC theme has been previously examined only within the academic and not the corporate environment, a gap addressed by this study. Therefore, this study adopts the perspective of developing ICs by not only measuring but also identifying and classifying this group of competencies.

Abstract
The turbulent phase of COVID-19 has caused uncertainty as governments fail to develop coherent strategies for cutting emissions and are struggling to match the rhetoric of sustainable activities with actions (Barbier & Burgess, 2020; Cawthorn, Kennaugh, & Ferreira, 2021). In the recent past, firms have failed in their plans to decarbonise their key sectors such as the retail sector in the United Kingdom So far, retailers' commitment to achieving net zero emissions has been an important pledge but delivery is nowhere closer to their promises (Henriques, 2020). The firms' climate targets are not going to be met by magic as serious action is needed to fulfil the promises.
Fossil fuels have led to a drastic increase in carbon emissions in the world over the last decade. Firms championing cleaner energy and low carbon technologies are needed to cut emissions. Renewable energy sources such as wind energy can help reducing the dependency of fossil fuels (Boretti, 2020; Ebhota & Jen, 2020). Wind is an indirect form of solar energy which can provide environment-friendly option in uncertain times and can provide long-term sustainability of global economy. Solar energy technologies have the potential to decrease climate change through energy-related emissions (Li, Dai, & Cui, 2020). Increasing energy demand has initiated a focus on using hydrogen from water as a substitute for oil and fossil fuels (Boretti, 2020).
The first part of the chapter discusses theoretical perspectives of sustainable development and environmental performance with regards to three main issues: energy, water and carbon emissions, whereas the later part highlights the importance of solar technology as a low-polluted alternative to fossil fuels in the retail sector. Sustainable development of energy, water and environmental precautions such as reducing carbon emissions are of interest to wider branches of industries including retail, energy and water sector, governmental policymakers, researchers, educators and society. The purpose of this chapter is to increase the debate of the key issues of sustainable development regarding environment, energy and water in the modern times.
