Abstract
The trade marketer is already faced with a high standard of data application in his approach to the buyer/seller relationship. The last thing he needs is an information revolution now. Yet it appears that we are on the verge of a new era of electronic databases with considerable potential advantages for productiveness and profitability. An already sophisticated level of database usage will be further enhanced by the advent of new information sources – retail scanning data, in‐home scanning. However, too much information could be a disadvantage and effective data management will be necessary. Competitive advantage will depend more than ever on the ability to apply these new databases to the marketing process, especially in forecasting future requirements at the macro and micro levels. Therefore mutual co‐operation will be an essential ingredient for the success of the buyer/seller relationship.

Abstract
Since the first Volume of this Bibliography there has been an explosion of literature in all the main areas of business. The researcher and librarian have to be able to uncover specific articles devoted to certain topics. This Bibliography is designed to help. Volume III, in addition to the annotated list of articles as the two previous volumes, contains further features to help the reader. Each entry within has been indexed according to the Fifth Edition of the SCIMP/SCAMP Thesaurus and thus provides a full subject index to facilitate rapid information retrieval. Each article has its own unique number and this is used in both the subject and author index. The first Volume of the Bibliography covered seven journals published by MCB University Press. This Volume now indexes 25 journals, indicating the greater depth, coverage and expansion of the subject areas concerned.

Abstract
Management accounting, inter alia, gives information on how resources are allocated within organisations. If managers wish to change patterns of resource allocation, accounting knowledge is pivotal to any change processes. In health care organisations resources follow decisions made by clinicians, hence to have an impact on resource allocations managers must influence them. Direct managerial control over clinicians is not possible or desirable in health care organisations. This article suggests that incentives are an alternative to control in health care and investigates the impact of financial incentives within hospitals, utilising a naturally occurring experimental situation that has arisen between the UK and Canada.

Abstract
This article explores the practical difficulties of leadership in a complex and fast‐moving environment. It argues that in the context of the public sector, where stakeholders and legitimate interests are many and varied, the challenge is even greater for leaders. Despite these difficulties, the key is to ensure that they get the right things done with and through other people, whether in the context of day‐to‐day transactional leadership or during periods of transformational change.This article demonstrates that the existence of an explicit, principle‐driven model of leadership is a particularly important vehicle for encouraging distributed leadership, effective partnership and team working.The basis on which leaders adapt their behaviour appropriately to the nature of the task and the people concerned is the measure that will be applied when considering an individual's leadership wisdom. The quality of those choices when faced with decisions will have an immense impact not just on the leader's reputation but also on his or her ability to achieve positive outcomes whilst maintaining an appropriate life balance.

Systemic couples and family therapy is integrated with conventional models of intervention for alcohol related problems. Potential problems and solutions in developing a multi‐modal approach is discussed, primarily establishing well defined pathways and communication between the various facilities within the same service.

Abstract
This chapter explores the policy changes which occurred in English higher education since 2011 which resulted in new or private higher education (PHE) providers engaging in the sector with the same regulatory requirements as established institutions (the ‘level playing field’). This chapter begins by exploring some challenges in defining and understanding PHE in England and the United Kingdom and presents some international literature to frame the English sector against PHE developments in other countries, suggesting that England’s PHE sector is distinct from international examples as it did not emerge due to an inability on the part of the incumbent sector to provide sufficient diversity of opportunity to study in England, instead emerging through a perceived need for greater competition and efficiency in the sector. The policy development of the level playing field is outlined through a review of key policy statements and reviews. A review of a sample of Access and Participation Plans submitted by PHE providers in England is used to provide some contextual data around some of the challenges presented for small, specialist PHE providers engaging with and enacting national-level widening participation (WP) policy in England. Such challenges typically include small data sets which hamper thorough analysis of interventions, under-developed information technology (IT) and record systems, and a lack of specialist expertise. These findings provide some challenge to the idea that PHE or alternative providers are inherently good at recruiting and teaching WP students as many institutions appear to have limited capacity for the data analysis and evaluation required by the Office for Students (OfS) to support such claims.

Abstract
A contemporary review of the psychometric properties of the Buss‐Perry Aggression Questionnaire was undertaken to assess its suitability for an alcohol dependent population. Three criteria were used to try to achieve this: factor analysis; internal consistency reliability; and test‐retest reliability. Factor analysis revealed that its structure is remarkably consistent in a number of populations. Internal consistency reliability and test‐retest reliability results scores proved to be mainly above the recommended threshold. A conclusion was reached regarding these results that the Buss‐Perry Aggression Questionnaire is an effective screening tool for aggression in an alcohol dependent population.
