Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose is to analyse the effect of academic leadership competencies (LCs) on student learning outcomes (SLOs) in terms of cognitive, skill and affective aspects.
Design/methodology/approach
The study utilised quantitative research that focussed on correlation design by randomly distributing questionnaires containing 53 items to a total of 496 faculty members in Saudi Arabia public higher education institutions (HEIs). The data was analysed using SPSS (V.24) and SEM-AMOS.
Findings
Results show a direct and significant effect of academic LC on students' cognitive, skill and affective learning outcomes in public HEIs.
Research limitations/implications
The main limitation was that the participants of public HEIs were from Saudi Arabia. However, the findings have provided valuable understandings and a comprehensive conclusion about the impact of academic LC on SLOs in terms of cognitive, skill and affective aspects. The study recommended that different LC should be further developed. Future studies proposed to investigate the factors that support academic leaders to affect SLOs directly in HEIs.
Originality/value
The findings contribute to the body of knowledge regarding the significant and direct effect of academic LC on SLOs in HEIs. The findings have the potential to reflect positively on the academic leaders in public HEIs. The findings act as a guide for HEIs in terms of the importance of academic LC for having desirable SLOs. This study is crucial for educational policymakers and practitioners of academic leadership as the academic leaders' effort will greatly contribute to the HEIs as well as the nation's development in general.

Abstract
Purpose
This study investigates the level and correlation between talent management and teacher personal qualities among MICSS (Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary School) teachers by integrating the talent management model proposed by Davies and Davies (2011) and the Big Five Structure established by Lewis R. Goldberg (1992).
Design/methodology/approach
The researcher conducted quantitative research methods in this study, collecting numerical data through the use of questionnaires and utilizing the stratified random sampling technique. The sample consisted of 357 Malaysian teachers who are employed by MICSS throughout the whole Malaysian context.
Findings
In essence, the survey revealed a significant degree of proficiency in talent management and teacher personal qualities among teachers. In addition, this study also revealed a moderate correlation between talent management and the personal traits of teachers across MICSS teachers in Malaysia.
Research limitations/implications
Limiting the investigation solely to MICSS is a noteworthy limitation. The examination also utilizes AMOS structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis, and it may be considered a restriction of this research that quantitative survey research is employed.
Practical implications
Academic establishments and universities that nurture prospective educators should incorporate talent management strategies and the personal qualities of teachers into the modules of teacher training to ensure that these individuals are not only adequately prepared but also assured of their ability to execute all duties assigned to them in a professional manner.
Originality/value
This research is notably innovative in the context of the Malaysian MICSS, where little evidence exists regarding talent management and teacher personality traits in education. This study, to the best of our knowledge, is the first attempt to investigate the practices and correlation between talent management and teacher personality traits in the entire Malaysian context. The research focuses on the practices of talent management towards MICSS teachers in Malaysia as well as the personal qualities of MICSS teachers.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the learning environment in schools that influence teaching and learning.
Design/methodology/approach
A study was conducted using the Instructional Leadership Model to compare principal practices of instructional leaders in the Islamic Religious Secondary Schools and Islamic Religious Schools of Government Assistance.
Findings
The paper discusses some of the findings in the dimension of promoting the learning environment. The six dimensions are: protecting instructional time; maintaining high visibility; providing incentives for teachers; promoting professional development; providing incentives for learning; and having high expectations.
Originality/value
The paper's findings indicate that the principals in Islamic Religious Secondary Schools promote a more positive learning environment in schools compared to Islamic Religious Schools of Government Assistance.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose a framework to assess the agility of manufacturing companies.
Design/methodology/approach
Particularly, three supply chain logistic drivers (facility, transportation and inventory) along with three cross-functional drivers (information, sourcing and pricing) are selected as the main sets to classify all required activities of agility. In addition, supply chain contracts, as an important indicator of supply chain agility, is also considered to categorize the activities. These activities are ranked using an (AHP) and then categorized based on the major perspectives of agility. Finally, using a cycle view of supply chain, the developed activities are categorized as the major policies of supply chain’s echelons.
Findings
This study developed a framework to evaluate the agility of manufacturing companies. Operational activities of agile supply chain strategy (ASCS) in addition to supply chain contracts are determined and categorized with regard to supply chain drivers.
Originality/value
This study contributes to recognizing, ranking and classifying the operational activities of ASCS with regard to logistics and cross-functional drivers of supply chain. In addition, this study considers the supply chain contracts in conjunction with supply chain drivers. From the theoretic and methodological features, to the best of authors’ knowledge, this study contributes to offer new insights to this area as no similar research has been conducted before.
