Abstract
Purpose
Human health is strongly affected by diet. By the increased use of food industries products, public knowledge about health factors and side effects of chemical additives, the concepts of human health founded an important aspect during past years, and application of natural-based ingredients such as coloring, flavoring, texturizing and anti-oxidative agents was increased.
Design/methodology/approach
The aim of the present paper is to review the published scientific research studies about lycopene health benefits in different human disease or disorders and bold the necessity of study the health effects of lycopene after its formulation in food industrial products. About 190 papers were searched in Google Scholar, PubMed, Web of Science databases and 72 relevant papers were used. It was found that in medical studies, the lycopene oleoresin or powder is used directly to the subjects. However, it is necessary to study the effectiveness of lycopene in diet food products.
Findings
According to the literature, it has beneficial effects on cancers, glands, reproductive system, bone, gastric system, liver and fat reduction in the body. Also, it was concluded from the literature that lycopene oxidative cleavages make also its chemo protective effects which is a lost key element to study different food processing on lycopene products or its isomers in final food products and on human health.
Originality/value
Many ingredients in food formulations are substituted by natural products. Lycopene is a colorant but also, according to the literature, has a strong antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effect to reduce the risk of most important human disease and disorders. Future research in food science can emphasize the effect of different unit operations or formulations on lycopene effects on human health.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate the pattern of technological capability building in the gas turbine industry as a complex product system (CoPS) in an Iranian gas turbine producer named Oil Turbo Compressor Company (OTC) and to recognize multi-level (firm, industry and national) drivers influencing technological catching up in this company.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper used a qualitative approach and case study research strategy. A preliminary theoretical framework is proposed based on research background. Also, the data were collected from various sources, including the interview with 11 experts, studying many documents and participating in some relevant meetings and conventions. To analyze the data, the authors relied on their preliminary theoretical framework and applied the chronological sequence analysis technique.
Findings
Our findings show that, first, in contrast with mass-produced industries where capability building pattern often leads to product innovation, technological capabilities in OTC have evolved from assembling to manufacturing, upgrading and finally redesigning of existing models of gas turbines. Second, two firm-level (proper technology acquisition strategies and building organizational and managerial capabilities), two industry-level (networking, integration and collaboration among key actors and existence of local market and demand) and two national-level (government’s policies, supports and initiatives and institutional arrangement and political conditions) drivers have played indispensable roles in facilitating and accelerating technological catching up by OTC.
Research limitations/implications
Inevitably, the current research faces a few limitations. For instance, the difficulty of generalization is considered an inherent problem because it is a case study of only one Iranian latecomer company, as well as only one CoPS industry. Regarding implications, the findings suggest that technological catching up in CoPS industries in developing countries is not a simple and autonomous process and is influenced by multi-level factors, including national-, industry- and firm-level drivers.
Originality/value
In terms of theory, this paper tends to investigate and explain the catching-up process in OTC as an Iranian gas turbine producer by applying a multi-level theoretical framework that consists of firm-, industry- and national-level drivers. In terms of practice, this paper aims at investigating drivers affecting the catching-up process in a CoPS industry in a developing country that was faced with vast international sanctions, while many other studies in this area examined cases from developing countries such as Korea and China that had the opportunity of enjoying international collaborations and overseas knowledge flows.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to design a synergetic controller to precisely and quickly track reference signals in robot manipulators. Having smooth control signal this controller enables the nonlinear robot system to track desired references in presence of disturbances in a finite time.
Design/methodology/approach
A new synergetic manifold is introduced here, followed by adding a nonlinear exponential term to it have a precise tracking within a finite time of the desired references with disturbances. Previously the nonlinear term was inserted in the main synergetic equation which makes it complicated due to its hard mathematical approach. Using Lyapunov function, the stability of the system in the presence of disturbances is proved. The validity of the resulted system is confirmed by simulating it in Simulink.
Findings
Using a terminal synergetic controller with new manifold proposed in this work enables system’s state variables to track desired reference signal in the presence of disturbances from any initial condition with proper precision and rate. Simulation results show that compared to similar methods it provides a more proper speed and a finite time convergence with high precision and speed.
Originality/value
Providing fast and precise convergence, the proposed controller can be used in robot manipulator systems which need fast response and also have a precise performance such as in printing 3D objects and any industrial process.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to provide an experimental/numerical analysis of free convection within a hollow/finned cavity.
Design/methodology/approach
The hollow square cavity is equipped with eight active fins which have a similar configuration and different temperatures. Furthermore, four different thermal arrangements are considered to determine the order of temperature for each fin. The coupled lattice Boltzmann method is used, which not only maintains the considerable advantages of standard lattice Boltzmann method such as accuracy but also enhances the stability of this method.
Findings
The cavity is filled with TiO2-SiO2/Water-Ethylene Glycol nanofluid. The thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity of nanofluid are experimentally measured using high-precision devices in six concentrations of the nanoparticle. In this study, some main parameters, including a range of Rayleigh number (103 < Ra < 106), the concentration of nanofluid (0.5 to 3 Vol.%) and thermal arrangements of fins, are considered. The effects of these main parameters on the flow, isotherms, heat transfer performance and entropy generation are studied.
Originality/value
The originality of this paper is combining the numerical simulation (lattice Boltzmann method) using a modern approach with experimental observations of nanofluid’s properties.

The purpose of this paper is to estimate interfacial heat transfer coefficient (IHTC) in a two‐dimensional solidification based on the particle swarm optimization (PSO) method.
Design/methodology/approach
The proposed numerical technique is based on the PSO combined with finite different method (FDM) to simultaneously estimate heat transfer coefficient in the metal‐mold interface. In this paper, simulated (noisy and filtered) temperatures are used instead of experimental data. The estimated temperatures are obtained from the direct numerical solution (FDM) of the two‐dimensional solidification model and PSO is applied to minimize a least squares objective function containing estimated and simulated (noisy and filtered) temperatures.
Findings
The accuracy and capability of the PSO are assessed by comparing the estimated and the pre‐selected heat transfer coefficients. The results show that the measurement errors do not considerably affect the accuracy of the estimates. In other words, the proposed method provides a practical and confident prediction in simultaneously estimating the IHTCs.
Research limitations/implications
Future approaches should find the optimal design of case study and then apply the proposed method to achieve the best results.
Practical implications
Applications of the results and the presented method in this paper can be of value in practical applications in parameter estimation for estimating the IHTCS.
Originality/value
An inverse estimation of IHTC in a two‐dimensional solidification has been made based on PSO algorithm for a practical case of Al 5% Wt‐Si.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to review the results of relevant studies to shed light on social trust-building in different contexts and the factors that affect it in disaster risk management.
Design/methodology/approach
This systematic review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses model. The study keywords were searched for in PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases on August 2021. The inclusion criteria were English-written articles published in social trust and disaster relief efforts. Exclusion criteria were lack of access to the full text and article types such as nonoriginal articles.
Findings
Out of 1,359 articles found, 17 articles were included in the final analysis using four general categories: six articles on the role of local government in trust-building (local governments), five articles on the role of social media in trust-building (social media), four articles on the role of social capital in trust-building (social capital) and two articles on the importance of community participation in trust-building (community participation).
Originality/value
Understanding the role of social trust and the factors which influence it will help the development of community-based disaster risk management. Therefore, disaster management organizations and other relief agencies should take the findings of this study into account, as they can help guide policymaking and the adoption of strategies to improve public trust and participation in comprehensive disaster risk management. Further studies recommended understanding people’s experiences and perceptions of social trust, relief and disaster preparedness.

Purpose
The main aim of this paper is to utilize the different forms of functions for the numerical solution of the two‐dimensional (2‐D) inverse heat conduction problem with temperature‐dependent thermo‐physical properties (TDTPs).
Design/methodology/approach
The proposed numerical technique is based on the modified elitist genetic algorithm (MEGA) combined with finite different method (FDM) to simultaneously estimate temperature‐dependent thermal conductivity and heat capacity. In this paper, simulated (noisy and filtered) temperatures are used instead of experimental data. The estimated temperatures are obtained from the direct numerical solution (FDM) of the 2‐D conductive model by using an estimate for the unknown TDTPs and MEGA is used to minimize a least squares objective function containing estimated and simulated (noisy and filtered) temperatures.
Findings
The accuracy of the MEGA is assessed by comparing the estimated and the pre‐selected TDTPs. The results show that the measurement errors do not considerably affect the accuracy of the estimates. In other words, the proposed method provides a practical and confident prediction in simultaneously estimating the temperature‐dependent heat capacity and thermal conductivity. From the results, it is found that the RMS error between estimated and simulated temperatures is smaller for linear simulation and also we found this form convenient for parameters estimations.
Research limitations/implications
Future approaches should find the optimal design of case study and then apply the proposed method to achieve the best results.
Originality/value
Applications of the results presented in this paper can be of value in practical applications in parameter estimation even with one sensor temperature history.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to identify the intra-organizational factors effective in a successful strategy implementation, measure the interaction intensity, analyze relation patterns among those factors, and lastly, prioritize the factors according to the level of importance and effect in the success of a strategy implementation.
Design/methodology/approach
A review of the literature produced 13 key intra-organizational factors involved in successful strategy implementation. The factors were then prioritized and the interaction among them was identified using interpretive structural modelling (ISM). DEMATEL was employed to quantitatively calculate the importance, intensity and effect in the interaction among the factors. Finally, combining both the aforementioned methods an integrated ISM-DEMATEL model was devised through which the factors were prioritized while the importance, intensity and effect of each factor were quantitatively calculated.
Findings
Prioritization and establishing relations and interactions among the identified factors by ISM; determining the priority of each factor and their intensity of effect and interaction on a quantitative basis through DEMATEL method and developing the integrated model of ISM-DEMATEL for intra-organizational factors effective in successful strategy implementation.
Research limitations/implications
Due to time limitation, the hybrid model could not be practically applied to any organizations or businesses and in this research, only 12 experts were consulted to construct the model. If the experts involved were increased both quantitatively and qualitatively no doubt the final model would be upheld.
Practical implications
Managers who are involved in strategy implementation or who intend to enter this phase are advised to apply the integrated ISM-DEMATEL model that presented in this paper in order to obtain good perspective about interaction and prioritization among the intra-organizational factors effective in strategy implementation success.
Originality/value
Identification of 13 key intra-organizational factors effective in successful strategy execution, by studying through the literature; prioritization and establishing relations and interactions among the identified factors by ISM; determining the priority of each factor and their intensity of effect and interaction on a quantitative basis through DEMATEL method; developing the integrated model of ISM-DEMATEL for intra-organizational factors effective in successful strategy execution; improving the integrated model through ISM by applying the findings obtained through DEMATEL.

Abstract
Purpose
The Islamic banking system is not very primordial, but recently it is getting popular. Now it becomes a prominent topic to investigate what are the reasons behind it and how it happens. This study aims to identify the influencing factors in the time of opening account in Islamic banks.
Design/methodology/approach
A descriptive and factor analysis method were carried out to collect the quantitative data using a validated structured questionnaire. This study is based on a survey of 300 clients from Bangladesh who have at least one bank account in any Islamic banks in Bangladesh.
Findings
The findings of the study revealed that the most important factors influencing the people to open an account in Islamic banks including high Riba (Interest) on saving, ATM facility, confirmation SMS on the transaction, availability of branch service in several locations, lower cost on financing (loan), low initial deposit fee for account opening, employees’ prompt service and their behavior, etc. Also, the other religious people, rather than Islam, start a banking relationship with Islamic banks without any obligation.
Research limitations/implications
The study focused only on a certain area of Bangladesh. This study could be extended for a different target market, creative strategy, other media and more countries.
Practical implications
The paper provides guidelines to the management of Islamic banks to decide to attract more customers by focusing on the influencing factors that manipulate a person to open a bank account.
Originality/value
The research is original. There are very few studies available on this topic, particularly focusing on Bangladesh. Consequently, the research findings have significant implications for Islamic banks functioning in a predominantly Islamic atmosphere.
