Abstract
Tourist policies and businesses today are not far beyond the effect of climate change. Worldwide, tourist demand, and popular locations have been hit hard by an increase in the frequency and severity of extreme weather events such as floods, heat waves, droughts, storms, and wildfires. Significant tourist attractions are also impacted by climate change. Sea level rise and ocean warming endanger resources like beaches and coral reefs, while snowfall has become less predictable in many winter locations. The expense of travel is also expected to rise due to climate change. The tourism is contributing to the carbon emissions and increasing hazards to the environment. What these trends have in common is their potential to alter the face of tourism throughout the world. Research on the topic of climate change and tourism has been around for a while, but this paper lays out the field’s evolution, outlines recent trends, and discusses the impact of climate change on tourism.

Abstract
Although adaptation to climate change is a well-researched topic at the individual level and in highly vulnerable industries, its integration into business strategies is poorly researched. In this chapter, we conduct bibliometric analyses on a sample of 368 relevant papers published in business journals to derive descriptive statistics and map the conceptual and intellectual structure of the field. We find an increased interest in adaptation and confirm a strong representation of industry-specific research. We complement the bibliometric analyses with a content analysis focused on emergent themes in the adaptation scholarship. We discuss systemic influences, individual effects, regulations and stakeholders, and exposure as areas likely to attract further scrutiny in future scholarship. For each theme, we derive practical implications for practitioners and policymakers.

Abstract
Hazing, a practice where existing group members subject newcomers to humiliation, embarrassment or abuse, is often perceived as either violent or harmless fun. Regardless of its nature, all forms of hazing carry a significant risk of harm. The dual-factor model of mental health provides a framework for understanding this harm. This model posits that mental health and mental illness, while related, are not identical. In other words, individuals need more than just the absence of mental illness to thrive; they also require positive mental health. This chapter seeks to apply the dual-factor model to the context of hazing. It will first introduce the model of mental health, followed by an exploration of how violent hazing can potentially lead to mental illness. It will also examine how hazing, even when perceived as harmless fun, can result in languishing mental health. This chapter will conclude with recommendations and strategies to foster safe and caring organisational environments. The goal is to create spaces where all members can participate and flourish without the fear of harm, thereby promoting both individual and collective well-being.

Abstract
Purpose
The authors examine the effect of climate risk on accounting conservatism for a sample of listed companies operating in 26 developing countries.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors employ the Climate Risk Index (CRI) developed by Germanwatch to capture the severity of losses due to extreme weather events at the country level. The authors use different approaches to measure firm-level accounting conservatism.
Findings
The authors find that greater climate risk leads to a lower level of accounting conservatism. The results hold even after using different estimation methods.
Research limitations/implications
Although the authors' analysis is limited to the period 2007–2016, it could be helpful for standard setters such as International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and International Sustainable Standards Board (ISSB) as they may consider the potential effect of climate risk in their international standards.
Practical implications
The negative impacts of climate risk on the quality of financial reporting as proxied by accounting conservatism could trigger regulators and standard setters to require disclosure of information relating to climate risks and to incorporate climate-related risks in their risk management systems. In addition, for policymakers, incorporating accounting conservatism as a financial quality reporting standard could help promote greater transparency, accuracy and reliability in financial reporting in the context of climate risk.
Originality/value
The authors add to the literature on international differences in accounting conservatism by showing that climate risk significantly affects unconditional and conditional conservatism. The authors' results provide fresh evidence of the dark side of climate change. That is, climate risk is shown to decrease financial reporting quality.

Abstract
This study examines the barriers and drivers to student-led mobilization for sustainability in higher education institutions (HEIs) across Canada. Findings indicate that the most common barrier to student mobilization was a lack of political opportunities and social capital. In response, the findings indicate that the primary drivers that student-led sustainability groups used to overcome barriers included: sharing framing perspectives to inspire and motivate action across campuses, using social networks to borrow and leverage social capital from other stakeholders, and impacting campus stakeholder behaviors resulting in the creation of a culture of sustainability. Social movement theories have been applied to the barriers and drivers to student-led action in order to provide a deeper understanding of how students mobilize on campuses. The findings suggest that while students may struggle to elicit policy changes across HEIs due to common barriers, their efforts can successfully shift the campus culture of sustainability. This study addresses an identified need for more literature investigating sustainability activism in higher education more broadly and more specifically fills a gap in our understanding of how student activism may contribute to social change.

Abstract
Purpose
The current education paradigm is often criticized for fostering human dependence and failing to reduce environmental impacts. This has led researchers to propose alternative approaches. One alternative approach, place-based education, integrates a specific location’s natural and social context into learning experiences. By deepening students’ connection to their surroundings, place-based environmental education aims to enhance students’ sense of interdependence with a place and their place attachment in cognitive and affective dimensions. While widely practiced, its effectiveness remains largely unevaluated, particularly in the East Asian context. The gap hinders the development of impactful pedagogical approaches for educators.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors examine a river environmental education program located upstream of Taiwan’s capital, offering a valuable case study within the East Asian context. The program’s design is analyzed, and its impact on enhancing students’ place attachment is assessed through a pre- and post-survey approach.
Findings
The results indicate a substantial increase in students’ place attachment following program participation, particularly pronounced among children with limited prior experience with the river. Importantly, this increase is comparable to or exceeds those observed in similar studies from other regions.
Originality/value
The considerable increase in place attachment observed in this program demonstrates its effectiveness in fostering environmental connections, particularly among children with limited prior experience. The magnitude of the increase might be partially attributable to the interdependent orientation of Taiwanese culture. This suggests that place-based education might yield significant positive outcomes in other non-Western countries with strong interdependent cultural orientations.

Abstract
Purpose
Based on the theory of organizational socialization, this article broadens the knowledge in the field of organizational commitment by determining the relationship between the organizational climate (OC) and the employees’ commitment, as well as the moderating role of the person-environment (P-E) fit.
Design/methodology/approach
We conducted quantitative research using three psychometric questionnaires. We investigated a large sample (N = 1,032) of employees hired in Poland.
Findings
We found strong relationships between the OC, the employees’ fit and their commitment. Moreover, both supplementary and complementary fit significantly moderated the relationships between the majority of climate dimensions and, especially, affective commitment. Interestingly, highly fitted employees with longer tenure showed a stronger relationship between material climate dimensions and commitment compared to similarly fitted newcomers, for whom the most important were relationships with co-workers and superiors.
Research limitations/implications
We analyzed only a subjective fit among employees working in Poland. Although it was beneficial for developing the OC knowledge of non-American sample, the results require cautious generalization.
Practical implications
Assessing a candidate’s fit with the organization through detailed interviews, behavioral questions or practical tasks during the selection process can improve candidates' and employees’ P-E fit. A better fit can increase commitment, even if the OC or other factors are not perfect. Socialization tactics aimed at strengthening the fit can facilitate better alignment with the climate and higher commitment among employees with longer tenure.
Originality/value
This study is the first to empirically verify the moderating role of the P-E fit on the relations between OC and organizational commitment. It also considers the comparison between more experienced employees and newcomers.

Abstract
Purpose
Drawing on institutional work (Lawrence and Suddaby, 2006; Lawrence et al., 2011), this study aims to explore how the concept of value for money (VFM) is understood in terms of the private finance initiative (PFI) implementation in Malaysia.
Design/methodology/approach
In-depth interviews with 25 actors involved in the implementation of PFI projects at two public universities in Malaysia were conducted. The interviews focused on the ways in which participants in the projects make sense of VFM in their ongoing involvement with the projects. In addition, a review of publicly available documents was conducted to understand the ways in which the notion of VFM is reflected in the policies and procedures of the government. Data from the interviews and documents were analysed using thematic analysis.
Findings
It is found that the advocacy work of macro-level actors, as well as micro-level actors, has promoted PFI implementation to achieve VFM. However, to the micro-level actors, VFM is just a concept that carries different interpretations, depending on how PFI fits their everyday functional discourses. In addition, direct negotiation and lack of commercial appreciation are disruptive not only to the achievement of VFM but also to the public sector reform agenda of the country.
Originality/value
The present study contributes to the discourses on the concept of VFM that is assumed to be inherent in PFI. The findings are based on micro- and macro-level actors and cover both advocacy and disruption of VFM achievement.

Abstract
Purpose
There are two goals for this study. Firstly, this study aims to understand the impact of various youth tourist motivations, such as Muslim amenities, Islamic product travel, attraction, perceived value and service quality, on the intention to visit Phuket. Secondly, this study aims to determine whether or not young people's perceptions of health risks influence their motivations and decisions to travel to Phuket in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used a quantitative methodology, using nonprobability convenience sampling to collect responses from 249 Indonesian youths who intended to visit Phuket after the COVID-19 pandemic. Hayes' (2018) SPSS PROCESS macro (Model 1) was used to test the research model.
Findings
The findings showed that the intention to travel was significantly affected by factors such as Muslim amenities, Islamic product travel, attraction, perceived value and service quality. Furthermore, the perceived health risk moderated three dimensions of Islamic product travel, perceived value and service quality on intention to visit.
Research limitations/implications
This study is limited to a sample of Indonesian youth tourists and the impacts of motivation (Muslim amenities, Islamic product travel, attractiveness, perceived value and service quality) and the moderating influence of health risk on the desire to visit Phuket.
Originality/value
This study sheds insight into the influence of several young tourists' motives on the intention to visit Phuket and the moderating role of perceived health risks. The findings provide essential insights for marketing strategies and the development of the international destination. Specifically, the study suggests developing products with Islamic attributes, emphasising the attraction factor and improving perceived values. The study also provides a model that demonstrates how religious values can affect an individual's decision-making process.
