Abstract
Purpose
The study aimed to assess the digital literacy skills of the students of Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy, to know whether they possess the digital literacy skills to perform well in the digital environment. The study also analyzed how digital literacy skills were affected by various factors.
Design/methodology/approach
The study used stratified random sampling technique, and data were collected through a self-assessment survey using an online questionnaire designed based on DigComp 2.1: The Digital Competence Framework by the European Commission.
Findings
The results indicated that the college students needed training on digital literacy skills, as the majority students had only moderate to low digital literacy skills. It was proven that exposure to technology and the Internet will not necessarily yield skills to perform well in the digital environment. Also, digital literacy skills were not affected by various factors like age, level of study, etc.
Practical implications
The study helped to identify the digital literacy deficiencies in the students of Sacred Heart College, and it can serve as a valuable model for conducting similar investigations in diverse educational institutions. Conducting such studies offers institutions valuable insights, enabling them to create and implement personalized digital literacy training programs that can enhance students' abilities to navigate the digital landscape with proficiency and effectiveness. The study results can be insightful for educators, policymakers and the Kerala Government to reassess the current approaches and design an effective curriculum for integrating technology in education.
Originality/value
Although there are several studies that evaluated college students’ digital literacy in India and other countries, there are very few studies in the context of Kerala. Therefore, this study is distinctive and will serve as an example for all such studies in the future.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this article is twofold. First, this study characterises the current state of the bio-packaging market's development. Second, it identifies key factors influencing and possible scenarios of the bio-packaging market transition to increase the market share of compostable packaging.
Design/methodology/approach
The results of 29 in-depth interviews (IDIs) with representatives of the key groups of bio-packaging supply chains' (SCs') stakeholders were the input for the consideration of the research problem.
Findings
The main economic, legal, social and technological enablers and barriers to the bio-packaging regime transition are recognised, and their impact at the market level is explained. The authors recognised the hybrid transition scenario towards an increase in the market share of compostable packaging related to the three traditional pathways of transformation, reconfiguration and technological substitution.
Originality/value
This study contributes to a better understanding of the socio-technical system theory by examining interdependencies between landscape (external environment), market regime (bio-packaging market) and niche innovations (compostable packaging) as well as system transition pathways. The findings and conclusions on bio-packaging market developments can be important lessons learnt to be applied in different countries due to the same current development stage of the compostable packaging lifecycle worldwide.

Methodology: This research utilizes a survey of existing written works on Industry 5.0, AI in healthcare, and associated empowering technologies. It also leans on insights from recent investigations and business actions to pinpoint current patterns and future paths.
Findings: This chapter showcases how AI-driven solutions can greatly alter various facets of healthcare. Some of these healthcare facets encompass personalized medicine and treatment, intelligent diagnostics and decision support, robot-supported surgery and care, and enhanced availability and affordability.

The study explores how Industry 5.0 differs from the industrial revolutions that preceded it, highlighting the challenges, benefits, and possible future trends of Industry 5.0 systems.
Need for the study: Industry 5.0 differs from Industry 4.0 – it represents a human-centred and sustainable approach along with the innovations it brings. Examination of the still emerging concept of Industry 5.0 and to investigate the driving forces behind the emergence is needed.
Methodology: The characteristics that distinguish the Industry 5.0 system from the fourth industrial revolution are explored in detail. The areas in which the technologies used in Industry 5.0 provide benefits and the challenges in implementing the system are analysed. The measures to be taken to overcome these difficulties and the deficiencies were investigated.
Findings: The most important principle of Industry 5.0 is human-centred production and technology. In addition, sustainability, personalised production, new business opportunities, more environmentally friendly and renewable energy use, and bioeconomy are shown as innovations brought by Industry 5.0.
Practical implications: The adoption of Industry 5.0 appears to be a mandatory change. Abstract
Purpose
The healthcare ecosystem continues to evolve with new technological developments with the support of its stakeholders. The technology-driven and patient-centric Healthcare 5.0 (H5.0) ecosystem is undergoing a transformation promising enormous benefits. However, the need to identify and understand the inherent challenges and barriers faced in the journey of H5.0 implementation and the relevant countermeasures for accelerated implementation has become critical.
Design/methodology/approach
The current research paper has utilised the Delphi approach for the collection of information and applied a well-proven quality function deployment (QFD) methodology for analysis.
Findings
The house of quality (HOQ) tool from the QFD has highlighted the critical H5.0 challenges which contribute to, approximately, 60% of the total weight. The identified top five process descriptors from the developed HOQ also contribute, approximately 60% among overall countermeasures. A useful H5.0 implementation progress (HIP) index has been recommended for tracking the progress made in the H5.0 implementation journey.
Originality/value
This research is among the first that has provided the application of the HOQ approach in the QFD methodology in the domain of H5.0. It has provided useful insights to the stakeholders. Furthermore, the development of a simple and practical HIP index is another useful value addition.

Human Resources Management (HRM) plays a crucial role in fostering sustainability and operational efficiency in Indian manufacturing firms. This study examines the impact of recruitment, training, and performance appraisal on the adoption of digital circular economy models, identifying gaps in current HRM practices and their impact on firm performance.
Design/methodology/approach
HRM practices significantly impact the adoption of a digital circular economy in Indian manufacturing firms, according to a study involving 256 employees across 17 firms, using structural equation modeling to test hypotheses and provide insights.
Findings
HRM practices in Indian manufacturing firms significantly contribute to the adoption of the digital circular economy, but the influence of compensation, rewards, and employee engagement on circular economy adoption needs to be better aligned with sustainability goals.
Research limitations/implications
The research has limitations in terms of limited sample size and focus on specific HRM practices, which may not fully represent the diverse landscape of Indian manufacturing firms and omit factors such as organizational culture and external environment.
Originality/value
HRM practices are significantly impacting the Indian economy, with a focus on enhancing sustainability and operational efficiency in manufacturing firms.

Try to find a way to treat wastewater and achieve its purification from suspended waste, which was removed by examining the magneto-Williamson fluid on a horizontal cylindrical tube while taking advantage of solar radiation and nanotechnology.
Design/methodology/approach
The effect of Cattaneo–Christoph law of heat transfer, solar radiation, oblique magnetic field, porosity and internal heat generation on the flow was studied. The control system was solved by the numerical technique of Chebyshev pseudospectrum (CPS) with the help of the program MATHEMATICA 12. The tables comparing the published data results with the existing numerical calculation match exactly.

The tables comparing the published data results with the existing numerical calculation match exactly. The current simulation results indicate that when using variable viscosity, the Nusselt number and surface friction decrease significantly compared to their value in the case of constant viscosity, and variable viscosity has a significant effect on flow, which reduces speed. Curves and increasing temperature profiles.
Originality/value
Developing a theoretical framework for the problem of sewage turbidity in a healthier and less costly way, by studying the flow of Williamson fluid with variable viscosity (to describe the intensity of sewage turbidity) on a horizontal cylindrical tube, and taking advantage of nanotechnology, solar radiation, Christoph’s thermal law and internal heat generation to reach water free of impurities. Inclined magnetic force and porous force were used, both of which played an effective role in the purification process.

Extant literature shows that gamification is an effective tool for enhancing customer brand engagement. However, there is a need for a structured review of the literature on how and to what extent gamification fosters customer brand engagement. This hybrid literature review synthesizes extant research on gamification and its impact on customer brand engagement.
Design/methodology/approach
The study is based on 45 articles drawn from 33 journals from the Scopus database. This article conducts a systematic review of theory, context, characteristics and methods employed in extant research, identifies contemporary themes and presents future research avenues. It also conducts a bibliometric analysis to identify the most prominent journals, authors, articles and themes.
Findings
This review identifies various patterns and trends of psychological capital research, and it unfolds four major themes – gamification and customer engagement, gamification and e-marketing, gamification and sustainable marketing and gamification and customer experience.
Practical implications
This review offers key insights into managerial implications.
Originality/value
It is one of the first endeavors to conduct a structured review of research related to gamification and customer engagement. It presents a conceptual framework that shows the relationships between gamification and customer engagement. Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to examine the effect of gamification training on employee task performance within the context of intellectual, social and affective (ISA) employee engagement in India. The use of gamification in training as a possible precursor to increased employee engagement is a fascinating research topic, especially as employee engagement is becoming an increasingly important factor in workplace success.
Design/methodology/approach
To achieve the aim of this study, 300 responses were obtained from employees in an Indian company using online surveys to quantitatively assess levels of employee engagement and task performance. Statistical tests like SPSS 20.0 and Smart PLS 3.0 were run on the collected data to see if gamification training led to significantly higher levels of employee engagement and if this engagement had an effect on task performance.
Findings
Result tells that social and affective engagement mediates the relationship between gamification training and employee task performance in gamification-using organisations, relative to intellectual engagement. As social and affective engagement has considerable positive effects on employee job performance and gamification training, gamification training is a critical approach for organisations to implement to increase employee engagement and, consequently, performance.
Originality/value
Using an innovative variable of employee engagement – specifically, ISA employee engagement – the authors have sought to establish a mediating link between gamification and employee task performance. Therefore, the study’s designs have practical value for organisations because they incorporate the ISA engagement scale into a game-based learning environment.
