Abstract
Purpose
The paper aims to examine the relationships among marathon spectator motivation, satisfaction and behavioral intention in China.
Design/methodology/approach
Date were collected from three Chinese marathon races. The paper presents the conceptual model of the study and adopted a mixed method to identify the motivations of marathon spectators; structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the measurement and substantive models; regression analysis was used to detect the specific effects of the various spectator motivations on spectator satisfaction and behavioral intention.
Findings
The paper provides empirical evidences about how marathon spectator motivation affects the behavioral intention. The research results from a path analysis of the spectator motivation–satisfaction–behavioral intention model show that: spectator motivation has significant positive effects on behavioral intention, the indirect path dominates the total effect of motivation on behavioral intention via satisfaction as a mediating variable; satisfaction is positively associated with behavioral intention, and it plays mediate role between spectator motivation and behavioral intention. The result of regression analysis indicates that various spectator motivations have different influences on the satisfaction and behavioral intention, motives of excitement and diversion have significant effect on satisfaction and behavioral intention, but socialization motive is not significantly associated with the satisfaction and behavioral intention.
Originality/value
This paper first fulfills an identified need to explore mass sports event spectator motivations and its influential mechanism on behavioral intention among Chinese marathon races by survey. It contributes greatly to the literature of mass sports spectator motivation and consumption theory, provides important managerial implications for Chinese sports organizations as to how to improve spectator orientation degree.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose and examine an integrated model of spectator satisfaction in mass participant sport events.
Design/methodology/approach
The Wuhan marathon, held in the middle of China, was selected serve for the study to examine the antecedents and consequences of spectator satisfaction at mass participant sport events. Data were collected from 956 spectators of the event on the day of the race. Structural equation modeling was used to examine the research model proposed by this study.
Findings
Structural equation modeling results indicate the following. First, the event image and perceived social impact of the event are important predictive factors of spectator satisfaction. Second, spectator satisfaction is positively associated with behavioral intentions toward the event and the sponsors' product. Third, spectator satisfaction plays a significant mediating role between the antecedents and consequences; specifically, compared to perceived social impacts of the event, event image has greater indirect effects on both event-related behavioral intentions and event sponsors' products.
Originality/value
Until now, there has not been an integrated research study on the sport spectator satisfaction model in the context of mass participant sport events. This paper thus extends the understanding of the spectator satisfaction in the context of mass participant sport events, and the findings provide valuable implications for holding cities and event organizers of mass participant sport events in emerging countries.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of market orientation and innovation orientation in new product performance as well as the potential moderating role of innovation orientation and environmental variables in the market orientation‐new product performance link among Chinese manufacturing firms.
Design/methodology/approach
A questionnaire survey was conducted among 227 manufacturing firms in mainland China. A total of six hypotheses related to market orientation, innovation orientation, and new product success as well as moderating effects of innovation orientation and environmental variables are examined by structural equation modeling and hierarchical regression techniques.
Findings
The research results show that: first, the conceptual model is superior to the popular model in Western literature in terms of model fit goodness; second, market orientation and innovation orientation have significant and positive impact, which is higher than the average level in previous research, upon new product success; third, innovation orientation and technological turbulence have a positive moderating effect on market orientation‐new product performance link; and fourth, market turbulence and competitive intensity have no moderating effects. In addition, managerial implications as to how to improve product innovation performance are provided for Chinese manufacturers.
Originality/value
The paper contributes to the extant literature of market orientation and product innovation in the following three ways. First of all, the research empirically validates a modified conceptual model incorporating market orientation, innovation orientation and new product performance. Second, the facilitating impact of strategic orientations (including market orientation and innovation orientation) upon new product performance is higher than the average level in previous studies (primarily based on developed economies), indicating the greater effectiveness of two strategic orientations in transition economy and east‐Asian cultural context. Third, by examining the potential moderating roles of innovation orientation and environmental variables, we are able to better understand how to match market orientation strategy with those moderators in order to help enhance the product innovation performance results of manufacturing firms.

Purpose
This study aims to examine the role of responsive market orientation and proactive market orientation in product innovation performance directly and indirectly via innovativeness, as well as the moderating effect of environmental turbulence in the market orientation‐product innovation performance link among Chinese manufacturing firms.
Design/methodology/approach
A questionnaire survey was conducted among 227 manufacturing firms in mainland China. A total of 11 hypotheses related to responsive and proactive market orientation, innovativeness and new product success as well as moderating environmental variables are examined by structural equation modeling and hierarchical regression techniques.
Findings
The research results show that: both proactive market orientation and responsive market orientation have a positive total effect in improving product innovation performance; the direct path dominates the total effect of responsive MO on new product success, while proactive MO impacts product innovation performance primarily via innovativeness as a mediating variable; and the role of responsive market orientation in new product success is more significant under stable technological and market conditions, while proactive market orientation improves product innovation performance to a greater extent under turbulent technological and market conditions.
Originality/value
The research examines the relationship among responsive and proactive MO, innovativeness and new product success as well as potential environmental moderators, thus contributing to market orientation literature theoretically. In addition, relevant implications are provided for management as to how to improve product innovation performance.

Abstract
Purpose
Literature has not paid enough attention to the antecedents of market orientation in the context of transitional economy and many authors focus on internal antecedent factors which could be controlled by the organizations. To address the research gaps, the purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of institutional pressures upon market orientation implementation in mainland China.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on multiple case studies of four large B2B manufacturing firms, this paper presents a conceptual framework incorporating three kinds of institutional antecedents of market orientation. Then the developed framework is empirically tested and the impacts of antecedent factors are compared by a fully structured questionnaire survey of 235 Chinese manufacturing firms.
Findings
The research findings indicate that during the market-oriented organizational change, normative and mimetic institutional pressures are important driving forces. In addition, the significant institutional antecedent factors are pressures arising from strategic partnership, system certification requirements, industry benchmarking, management consultation and intensive competition.
Originality/value
This research is first of its kind as it probes into institutional antecedents of market orientation among Chinese firms by combining cross-case study and large-scale survey. It contributes greatly to the literature of market orientation and institutional theory, and also provides relevant managerial implications for firms as to how to improve market-orientation degree.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this research is to address the existing gap in the study of construction and demolition waste (C&DW) by focusing on its impact on human health throughout the entire life cycle. And this research provides a comprehensive assessment model that incorporates the release of gaseous pollutants and particulate matter during the whole life cycle of C&DW, thereby contributing to a more holistic understanding of its impact on human health.
Design/methodology/approach
The research was conducted in two stages. Firstly, the quantitative model framework of pollutants emitted by C&DW was established. Three types of pollutants were considered, namely nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and inhalable particulate matter (PM10). Second, disability-adjusted life year (DALY) and willingness to pay (WTP) assessments were used to provide a monetary quantified health impact for pollutants released by C&DW.
Findings
The results show that the WTP value of PM10 is the highest among all pollutants and 8.68E+07 dollars/a, while the WTP value in the disposal stage accounts for the largest proportion compared to the generation and transportation stage. These findings emphasize the importance of PM10 and C&DW treatment stage for pollutant treatment.
Originality/value
The results of this study are of great significance for the management department to optimize the construction management scheme to reduce the total amount of pollutants produced by C&DW and its harm to human health. Meanwhile, this study fills the gap in existing research on the impact assessment of C&DW on human health throughout the whole life cycle, and provides reference and basis for future research and policy formulation.

Abstract
Purpose
Managing knowledge is relevant for the innovativeness of an organization. The innovation of the organization currently aligns with the environment and applies green innovation concepts. Knowledge management (KM) is a key to fostering green innovation and to saving the environment from unnecessary pollution. In line with this, this study aims to evaluate the relationship between KM and green innovation in the literature from 2000 to 2023 synthesize and suggest future directions.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used the preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis technique to identify eligible articles. The papers were identified from the Web of Science core collection and ScienceDirect databases. The results were presented using tables, graphs and the co-occurrence of citations was analyzed using VOSviewer software.
Findings
From the review, the authors were assured that there is a strong relationship between KM practices and green innovation in different organizations. Some papers were supported by different theories. From the total of 48 papers, 16 have not mentioned the theories applied in their studies. The geographical distribution of the papers is asymmetrical. Asian and European scholars published more papers. The papers distribution across publishers also varies. For instance, Elsevier and Emerald Group Publishing Ltd. published 29 papers and the remaining papers were published in BMC, Springer, Frontiers Media Sa, IEEE-Inst Electrical Electronics Engineers Inc., MDPI, Routledge Journals and Taylor & Francis Ltd. Major themes were identified and future research directions were forwarded.
Research limitations/implications
The limitation of this review is the authors generated the papers from two databases (WoS and ScienceDirect). This paper does not consider other databases (Scopus, dimensions, etc.) papers. This can be considered as a limitation of this review.
Originality/value
The review is original by integrating PARISMA and bibliometric analysis method (VOS Viewer). The paper tried to explore the role of KM on green innovation.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to develop a system dynamics (SD) model to identify causal relationships among the elements of failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), i.e. failure modes, effects and causes.
Design/methodology/approach
A causal loop diagram (CLD) has been developed based on the results obtained from interdependencies and correlations analysis among the FMEA elements through applying the integrated approach of FMEA-quality function deployment (QFD) developed by Shaker et al. (2019). The proposed model was examined in a steel manufacturing company to identify and model the causes and effects relationships among failure modes, effects and causes of a roller-transmission system.
Findings
Findings indicated interactions among the most significant failure modes, effects and causes. Moreover, corrective actions defined to eliminate or relieve critical failure causes. Consequently, production costs decreased, and the production rate increased due to eliminated/decreased failure modes.
Practical implications
The application of CLD illustrates causal relationships among FMEA elements in a more effective way and results in a more precise recognition of the root causes of the potential failure modes and their easy elimination/decrease. Therefore, applying the proposed approach leads to a better analysis of the interactions among FMEA elements, decreased system's failure rate and increased system availability.
Originality/value
The literature review indicated a few studies on the application of SD methodology in the maintenance area, and no study was performed on the causal interactions among FMEA elements through an FMEA-QFD based SD approach. Although the interactions of these elements are significant and helpful in risks ranking, researchers fail to investigate them sufficiently.
