Abstract
Purpose
The manager is to innovation what innovation is to organizations. Driven by this axiom, researchers and practitioners have turned their attention to the drivers of innovative work behavior of managers. In this study, we investigate whether organizational-based job attitudes (workplace belongingness and management support) are related to the innovative work behavior of managers directly or through the underlying mechanism of intrapreneurial intention.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were gathered from 201 managers working in various industries in Kosovo. Using structural equation modeling, we tested how management support (MS) and workplace belongingness (WB) are related to innovative work behavior (IWB) as a direct relationship and mediated by intrapreneurial intentions (INI).
Findings
The study's findings reveal that the relationship between workplace belongingness and innovative work behavior is positive and significant. The relationship between management support and innovative work behavior is insignificant, but intrapreneurial intention fully mediates this relationship. The strongest relationship attested is between intrapreneurial intention and innovative work behavior, supporting the attitude-intention-behavior nexus.
Research limitations/implications
Our study is limited to a single-country, cross-sectional study, which hinders generalization and is susceptible to reverse causation.
Originality/value
Our study sheds light on the attitude-intention-behavior chain and provides insights for fostering innovative work behavior among managers. This is the first study to test the influence of management support and workplace belongingness as attitudes on innovative work behavior of managers from the lens of place attachment theory and perceived organizational support theory.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this research is to explore the experiences regarding diversity and inclusion in the professional context. The stories of female IT professionals included the discussion around enablers and blockers of career and development in IT and talking about worst and best daily experiences at the workplace.
Design/methodology/approach
This is a qualitative study that presents the findings from four focus groups with 50 participants – selected female IT professionals working in Poland. The IT professionals were taking part in the Women in Tech Summit in Warsaw in 2019. LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® projective technique has been applied during the group interviews to help the participants express their experiences in a creative way.
Findings
The findings include conceptualization of the three main sources of inequalities: (1) Imbalance in rewards and recognition and performance visibility (2) Inability to build wider women-oriented strategic alliances and meaningful relationships around D&I and (3) Willingness but no practical mechanisms to contribute to the business value and being a part of meaningful activities and two concepts of how to improve employee experiences, namely: business strategizing based on daily meaningful experience and mentoring others and impacting business reality through creating professional alliances that matter and are recognized as business value generators as the key directions.
Research limitations/implications
The research was conducted before the pandemic.
Practical implications
The research creates a practical conversational framework for managers giving directions on how to talk about diversity and inclusion in the workplace using a perspective of “daily interactions” and “everyday employee experiences”.
Social implications
The emerged concepts help to direct the corporate discussions around Social Development Goal No. 5 – Gender Equality in a practical business dimension.
Originality/value
The originality is brought by (1) LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® – the method of creative exploration used during the focused groups (2) social significance of gender equality in the technological roles and industries, especially in the context of reskilling approaches (3) Central and Eastern European perspective of the research.

Abstract
Purpose
In times of organizational thirst for employee engagement and meaning through designing corporate stories, the aim of this article is to explore and identify key sources (engines) of engagement during LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) corporate learning pre-pandemic events of various types and size in Poland.
Design/methodology/approach
This is a conceptual paper. The research was conducted using participant observation from the perspective of a certified facilitator of the method. This position ensures a prime access to the organizational events. Eight training sessions (four LSP and four non-LSP workshops) have been analysed using thematic analysis. The structure of thematic codes has been conceptualized and reflected as the EPIC framework.
Findings
The findings include (1) the importance of the experience of emerging realities as a key generator of engagement, (2) the significance of social collaboration and peer-to-peer interactions (experience of collective intelligence), (3) the observable rise in engagement and willingness to contribute when real business situations, especially labelled as “strategic issues” are discussed and (4) the role of image-capturing (“snapshot experience”) in creation of an engaging learning experience.
Research limitations/implications
The limitations refer to the potential conflict of interests as the researcher is also the facilitator of the workshop. To ensure the neutral point of view of the researcher, the sessions have been recorded to enable transparency of the observation and non-biased logic of key findings. The “learning experience” research is also culture- and context-sensitive, thus it may be problematic to replicate the research procedure in different countries, however, the EPIC model can be treated as a universal framework to explore and identify the engines of engagement.
Practical implications
The concept of this paper is designed from the practical point of view. The findings are adaptable to the corporate practices aimed at empowering employees and are compatible with management models such as agile, human enablement and human-centred design in organizations.
Social implications
Serious play methods of learning and experiencing are said to be of the highest importance when finding new ways of organizational learning in the pandemic situation and work from home as a standard learning environment.
Originality/value
The contribution of this paper is visible in the conceptualization of the moments that shape an engaging experience. This is also the first academic paper presenting the perspective of a certified facilitator of LSP from Central and Eastern Europe region.
