Abstract
Purpose
The current study aims to examine stress mindset as a moderator of the relationship between the work–family interface – work–family conflict (WFC) and enrichment (WFE) – and two work outcomes: job satisfaction and turnover intentions.
Design/methodology/approach
To examine these relationships, a cross-sectional online survey was conducted in Ireland (N = 314). Bootstrapping in SPSS was used to test the proposed hypotheses.
Findings
In addition to direct relationships between WFC/WFE and job satisfaction and turnover intentions, analyses showed that stress mindset is a moderator of the relationships between WFC and job satisfaction and turnover intentions, as well as of the relationship between WFE and job satisfaction, but not WFE and turnover intentions.
Research limitations/implications
Providing general support of the propositions of the conservation of resources theory, stress mindset was found to act as a personal resource affecting the relationships between WFC/WFE and most outcomes. The study findings indicate a need to further examine stress mindset in relation to employees' work and family interface.
Practical implications
In line with other research, this study recommends organizational efforts to reduce WFC and increase WFE. Further, as stress mindsets can be altered, practitioners may consider implementing stress mindset training to encourage employees' view of stress as enhancing rather than debilitating to reduce the negative impact of stress on employees in the workplace.
Social implications
Beliefs about the enhancing aspects of stress may allow employees to more effectively navigate transitions between work and family domains and maximize beneficial aspects of participating in both work and family roles.
Originality/value
This is the first paper to investigate the role of stress mindset as a moderator of the associations between the work–family interface and employee work-related outcomes. The findings are relevant to work–family researchers, managers and human resource professionals.

SINCE their introduction into this country a few years ago, the inert‐gas‐shielded welding processes have rapidly become preeminent in the light‐alloy field, where their advantages are well known. At the Luton Establishment of Messrs D. Napier and Son, Ltd., these processes have been the subject of intensive development during the last three years, and this work has made possible their current adoption in various forms as normal productive processes. Wherever possible, mechanization has been introduced for reasons discussed later, and components are being produced in a variety of light alloys. The majority of the applications are highly stressed fabrications whose physical soundness and dimensional accuracy require to be of a particularly high standard.

Abstract
Estimates the extent to which electronic data interchange (EDI) is currently used in the motor carrier industry and examines motor carrier EDI issues. The analysis is based on data collected from a survey of 266 Class I and II motor carriers. The major findings include: the use of EDI industry‐wide is fairly significant in terms of freight revenues coming from EDI shippers; smaller motor carriers lag behind in the use of EDI; the motor carrier decision to implement EDI appears to be customer‐service – or marketing‐driven; and EDI use by motor carriers is evolving towards standardization. Suggests that further research is needed to gain a better understanding of the degree to which the trucking industry is sharing in the benefits of EDI use and the role which the smaller carrier will have in the growth of EDI use.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to examine different hypotheses concerning the effects of public service motivation (PSM) and other attitudinal or institutional dimensions on organizational performance (OP). Specifically, based on the experience of Chinese provincial governments, this study provides new evidence about how PSM may affect OP.
Design/methodology/approach
This study collected data from a survey of different provincial government departments in Sichuan Province, Hubei Province, Hunan Province and Chongqing Municipality in 2011. Using data from 761 respondents, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to explore the relationships between related factors.
Findings
PSM, job satisfaction, affective commitment and job involvement have statistically significant effects on OP, and these results are consistent with the findings of previous researches that PSM positively affected OP at a significant level. The results suggest that, if civil servants have a strong PSM, the performance of their organizations will be high.
Research limitations/implications
Future research should look for additional factors that affect OP, comparing employees’ perceptions of an organization’s performance with objective data to determine whether, and to what degree, subjective measures of performance are valid measures of OP in the public sector.
Practical implications
In the process of improving government performance, it is significant to give attention to the government employees’ mentality. The government training and promotion system should encourage civil servants to care about the public interest. A more flattened organization should be considered as part of the next steps in government reform, and more opportunities should be provided to involve more government employees in policy making.
Originality/value
This study helps to clarify the effects of individual factors of PSM on OP in China in a tightly controlled bureaucratic environment, where related data are hardly accessible.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explore how and when employee smart technology, artificial intelligence, robotics and algorithms (STARA) awareness affects job crafting through challenge appraisal and threat appraisal and provides positive stress mindset as a moderator.
Design/methodology/approach
The survey data was collected from 319 employees in four Chinese companies. The hypotheses were tested using Mplus 7.0 and regression analysis.
Findings
The results indicate that STARA awareness positively prompts approach job crafting via challenge appraisal and also positively predicts avoidance job crafting via threat appraisal. Meanwhile, positive stress mindset enhanced the mediating effect of challenge appraisal and weakened the mediating effect of threat appraisal.
Practical implications
Leaders should prioritize hiring high-positive-stress mindset candidates for jobs, and organizations should also cultivate employees’ positive stress mindset.
Originality/value
Building on the cognitive appraisal theory of stress, this study reveals the underlying mechanism and boundary conditions behind the linkage of STARA awareness and job crafting.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose is to bring together all bibliographic references of the published literature on electronic books (e‐books) and related technologies in one source so that it will save time for others in conducting literature searches and reviewing the developments.
Design/methodology/approach
The information included in this bibliography is collected systematically from all the published sources in the world such as journal articles, conference papers, conference proceedings, books, reports and PhD theses on e‐books until the last quarter of 2004. Mainly it covers e‐books, e‐books publishing, the impact of e‐books on different types of users, e‐book publishing techniques and trends, e‐book user interfaces and other technologies related to e‐publications.
Findings
As computer usage continues to grow exponentially, the desire of users to use electronic publications (e‐publications) has also increased tremendously. This has led to the publication of materials in electronic form as e‐publications on both CD‐ROMs and web. The e‐book is one of the several forms of e‐publications and its popularity has been growing steadily for the past decade.
Originality/value
This bibliography will be useful to all researchers conducting research in any areas related to e‐books and e‐book publishing.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate research trends observed in the International Journal of Logistics Management (IJLM) during its first 20 years of publication.
Design/methodology/approach
A content analysis was conducted of the IJLM's first 20 years of publication (330 articles in total) to identify changing trends in subject matter, use of theory, type of research methodology, and author, institution, and country contributions.
Findings
IJLM has evolved in every dimension evaluated. Specifically, content follows macro‐economic world events and reflects the emergence of supply chain management as an interdisciplinary domain. Recent research demonstrates a greater emphasis on theory development as well as more rigorous methods. Importantly, the increased theoretical grounding and rigor provides greater confidence in research that continues to be highly managerially relevant. Author, institution, and country findings are also discussed.
Research limitations/implications
The study is limited to an analysis of IJLM's publications.
Practical implications
The research provides valuable insights into the evolution of articles published in IJLM. For managers, the findings suggest that readers can place greater confidence in the findings and recommendations proposed by current research published in IJLM. For researchers, the findings provide guidance regarding the types of research that are likely to be accepted for publication in IJLM. The findings also represent a call for more forward‐looking research.
Originality/value
The comprehensive review of IJLM's publications provides a longitudinal perspective on the evolution of research in IJLM.
