Strategic considerations for implementing DT include creating a shared vision through collaborative strategy development, establishing clear objectives, designing a detailed action plan for DT initiatives, encouraging active participation from all educational community members, and maintaining the DT strategy through continuous evaluation and adaptation. By interweaving DT with these strategic educational priorities, higher education institutions can not only improve the learning experience but also equip students to succeed in a rapidly evolving future.
Abstract
ChatGPT is a revolution in the field of lifelong learning in the digital era of higher education. This chapter explores ChatGPT's enormous influence on universities, showcasing its revolutionary potential for individualized, captivating and cooperative learning environments. With ChatGPT's exceptional adaptability to individual learning needs, students can navigate complex subjects with unparalleled ease and speed. ChatGPT is a sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) language model. It enhances the learning process overall and creates a sense of community by enabling lively peer discussions and exchanges across geographic boundaries. However, alongside its potential benefits, ChatGPT presents ethical dilemmas that demand necessitate careful consideration. Issues such as algorithmic bias and data privacy need to be properly addressed in order to ensure responsible and equitable use of this technology is used in educational settings. The trajectory ChatGPT in higher education may be significantly influenced by forthcoming innovations like augmented and virtual reality, promising a new era of immersive and inclusive lifelong learning experiences. The chapter underscores the importance of a balanced strategy that leverages ChatGPT's benefits while proactively addressing associated challenges, supporting the fundamental transformation of higher education.
Abstract
The main purpose of this review was to synthesize pre-service teachers' digital self-efficacy in the context of education 5.0 and to identify the elements that affect pre-service teacher's digital self-efficacy and preparedness for future technologies. A systematic review approach was employed to analyze the 22 articles about the pre-service teachers' digital self-efficacy of in the paradigm of education 5.0. The review was conducted from 2012 to 2022 following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. In this study, PICO model was used in framing research questions. The findings of the review revealed that limited study has been carried out in the context of digital self-efficacy in the context of education 5.0. It was found that previous studies were only focusing general digital self-efficacy through traditional ways. Moreover, findings revealed there is lack of research on digital self-efficacy pre-service teachers in the realm of education 5.0 paradigm in the literature. More specifically, the results revealed that implementation of education 5.0 into teacher preparation programmes faces numerous challenges, including a lack of technological approach, poor digital infrastructure, the digital divide, a paucity of professional training opportunities for teachers and a lack of importance in policies. This synthesis of the literature review has practical implications for pre-service teachers along with policymakers. Pre-service teachers are required to increase their digital skills for the reason that they could teach the advanced generation. The policymakers can revisit and update the curriculum to incorporate education 5.0 principles in the teacher education programmes. This comprehensive review helps to better understand the pre-service teachers' digital self-efficacy towards education 5.0 and contributes to the body of existing knowledge on digital self-efficacy. Moreover, this study gives valuable insights on the incorporation of education 5.0.
Abstract
Digital transformation in nursing education is crucial for enhancing pedagogical practices and preparing future healthcare professionals for the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. This chapter explores how the integration of digital technologies in higher education has revolutionising teaching methodologies and offered new opportunities to enhance learning experiences. It identifies gaps in digital learning modalities for undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students and discusses strategies to strengthen online literacy preparation and transition into the healthcare sector's digital transformation landscape and the 4th industrial era economy. The chapter examines best practices and challenges in digital transformation in nursing education such as blended learning environments, simulation and virtual reality, mobile learning applications and gamification strategies. Additionally, it addresses challenges in curriculum development including insufficient technological infrastructure, faculty training and development, assessment strategies and resistance to change among faculty and students. This chapter aims to provide insights and recommendations for educators, curriculum developers and policymakers in implementing successful digital transformation in nursing education.
Abstract
The incorporation of digital technologies into higher education in recent years has transformed the teaching and learning landscape, notably in the field of English language instruction. This study investigates the best practices and challenges linked with the digital transition in higher education English teaching and learning. The digital revolution has enabled new educational approaches, increasing the accessibility and effectiveness of English language instruction. The use of interactive multimedia tools, online platforms, and adaptive learning systems has personalized education, responding to a wide range of student demands and encouraging active engagement. Furthermore, virtual classrooms, video conferencing, and collaborative online spaces have crossed geographical boundaries, encouraging global collaboration and cultural interaction among students. However, this shift has not been without its difficulties. Disparities in access among students based on socioeconomic status or geographic location have expanded the digital divide. Furthermore, due to the rapid growth of technology, educators must get ongoing training in order to effectively apply and adapt to new technologies, providing a difficulty in faculty development and support. This chapter investigates successful and best practices in digital transformation, highlighting the significance of pedagogical alignment, learner-centered approaches, and inclusive practices. It also emphasizes measures for overcoming problems, such as infrastructure investment, equitable access, digital literacy promotion, and continual professional development for educators. Finally, this chapter emphasizes the importance of matching technical innovation with pedagogical objectives in order to optimize the digital transition in English language education. Taking a proactive and inclusive approach to this shift can open up new pathways for effective teaching and learning experiences, preparing higher education students for a rapidly expanding digital world while tackling the associated issues.
Abstract
The chapter provides a comprehensive outline of how technology can be harnessed to promote inclusivity within higher education. The article begins by defining inclusive education and explains how cross-cultural collaboration can be facilitated by technological intervention. The article focuses on how the amalgamation of different theories based on behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism is crucial for the successful implementation of inclusive education. It highlights the importance of emerging technologies in promoting inclusive pedagogy. It provides a strategic framework that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and different digital tools to cater the needs and aspirations of diverse and global higher educational institutions. Several case studies are also presented to help in understanding the barriers and corresponding strategies to enhance inclusivity. The impact of the strategy surpasses immediate learning enhancements which contribute to a broader vision for a more equitable, accessible, and interconnected educational ecosystem. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the challenges and ethical considerations for successful implementation of technologies to bring inclusive internationalization to higher education.
Abstract
Our research investigated the potential effects of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) techniques into scholarly publications, specifically big language models. The study employs a qualitative methodology and web content analysis to understand various publishers' guidelines. It examines the potential applications and outcomes of AI in publishers. The analysis has revealed insightful findings regarding the use and implications of AI tools in academic publishing. Agglomeration analysis has uncovered distinct clusters of terms, indicating semantic relationships and thematic cohesion within the dataset. Notably, ‘Large’ and ‘Models’ have formed a coherent cluster, highlighting the significance of large-scale language models in scholarly discourse. Similarly, factor analysis has identified thematic clusters related to AI usage, emphasising aspects such as accuracy, responsibility and the role of authors in AI-assisted work. Semantic mapping has further elucidated thematic dimensions, highlighting linguistic frameworks, work-related constructs, methodological frameworks, AI technologies and publication dynamics. Evaluation metrics have consistently demonstrated cohesion, coherence and lexical diversity across varying numbers of topics, underscoring the robustness of the semantic mapping approach. Additionally, the Silhouette coefficient has provided insights into cluster quality, indicating strong cohesion within specific thematic clusters while hinting at potential overlaps in others. Co-occurrence matrix and cross-tabulation analysis have revealed association and frequency distribution patterns among terms, shedding light on prevalent themes and topics within the dataset. Finally, the proximity plot has illustrated the strength of associations between keywords and accuracy, emphasising central themes and moderate thematic relevance.
Abstract
As the today's world is leading toward the digital dependency and after the world pandemic of COVID-19, the dependency of students and the university is completely through a digital medium, in context with that the higher education according to the demand of the generation is leading towards digital transformation. The digital transformation in the sector of education is the road map for the sustainable management and development of education. The digital transformation is the new pillar of education in which the students are mostly reliable. The digitalization in the field of education will lead to simple and clarified as well as multiple way for acquiring the knowledge. As the integration of the new model of education system is applied and implemented throughout the globe, the digital medium plays a significant role for the smooth and the systemic development of the model. In this chapter, the pathway for the development of the well-stable and well-developed strategies is considered in which the integration of the essential requirements, proper guidance, and advantages of the model is dependent for the transformation to digital medium of the higher education that will be leading to the development of the management and the education system. The foundation of that transformation model is detailed in the paper for the digitalization of higher education.
Abstract
This chapter delves into the pivotal role of digital transformation (DT) strategies in fostering educational innovation, particularly through the lens of transformative learning (TL). By outlining a five-stage TL model, we explore how DT strategies can not only support but also significantly enhance educational reforms. Actions and multipliers, constituting the core elements of this model, interact dynamically to advance TL within academic institutions. Actions, such as strategic initiatives and the development of learning environments, account for the tangible steps toward transformation. Meanwhile, multipliers amplify these efforts, emphasizing the importance of strategy, commitment and the sustainable impact of educational transformations. We also highlight the emerging influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in reshaping learning contexts, demonstrating its capacity to personalize learning experiences and foster problem-solving skills. Additionally, we envision the future trajectory of higher education (HE) toward 2035, emphasizing the integration of AI and DT in creating a responsive and adaptive educational ecosystem. This chapter argues that DT is not just a tool but also a catalyst for active and transformative learning, proposing a holistic approach to integrating technology in education that addresses current challenges and anticipates future needs.
