Editorial

Welcome everyone to the beginning of Volume 15 for The Learning Organization – The international journal of knowledge and organizational learning management. The Learning Organization enjoyed 143,625 article downloads in 2006 and is therefore currently one of the most downloaded journals (in terms of content) within Emerald’s repertoire and is on target to again surpass 100,000 downloads in 2007 (at the time of this editorial, information available indicated over 80,000 downloads in the first six months of 2007). This indicates that the work of our authors is highly regarded in the academic and professional communities, and we should all take pride in this accomplishment. I would like to extend my personal thanks to all of our authors, reviewers, and editorial board members whose diligent work ensures the continuing quality of the research and applications published in this journal. With the number of article downloads nearly doubling from 2005 to 2006, this also indicates that research on learning organizations, organizational learning methods, and knowledge management is becoming of increasing importance in this age of global information and knowledge.

It has been my pleasure to serve as the Editor-in-Chief for the past two volumes of The Learning Organization and for a part of this 15th volume. Unfortunately, other duties are making it difficult to devote the attention needed to this top quality journal and with regret I must step down and pass the torch. I will continue as Editor-in-Chief through the end of the calendar year 2007, which translates to Issue 2 of the current volume (15) published in 2008, at which time Professor Deborah Blackman will assume the role. Professor Blackman is a long-standing reviewer and also author for The Learning Organization (with four published articles), and is affiliated with the Division of Business, Law, and Information Sciences in the School of Business and Government at the University of Canberra in Canberra, Australia. Please join with me in extending warm regards to Professor Blackman as she pilots The Learning Organization on its continuing journey to be the number one resource for researchers and managers working in organizational learning and the management of knowledge.
