Jotun invests in Brazil
Jotun invests in Brazil
Jotun is investing US $2.5 million in an industrial paint plant in Duque de Caxias in Rio de Janeiro state, to be inaugurated next December, reported by Jornal do Commercio end of August. The new development has been prompted by the new offshore oil construction projects by the Brazilian state-owned oil and gas company Petrobras. The Norwegian group has already signed a contract for the supply of 500,000l of paints over 2 years for one of the new installations, through the Fels Setal Technip consortium. Jotun's new plant will have an initial capacity of 5 million litres/year, reaching 10 million litres within 3 or 4 years. In a first stage, 80 per cent of production will be directed at exports, although the group intends to supply 50 per cent to domestic market. Jotun will concentrate on the offshore, industrial and marine sectors in Brazil.
