Great Lakes expands production capacity for Lowinox® 1790 high performance phenolic antioxidant
Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) recently expanded production capacity at its Pyongtaek, Korea plant due to growing demand for its Lowinox® 1790 high performance phenolic antioxidant that used in polyurethane fibers and polyolefins applications.
“Making an investment to increase production capacity of this key antioxidant supports the emerging needs of both the polymer industry and, particularly, our customers in the polyurethane fibers and polyolefins markets. This major capacity expansion for Lowinox 1790 further ensures that Great Lakes can meet future demand for this product”, said Maurizio Butti, Executive Vice- President of Polymer Stabilizers.
The additional capacity at Pyongtaek is fully installed and production of Lowinox 1790 is in full stream. This latest investment makes Great Lakes the world's leading producer of this type of high performance phenolic antioxidant, with production capacities in both Europe and Asia.
The Pyongtaek plant is part of Asia Stabilizers, a joint venture majority owned and managed by Great Lakes with a strong partner Miwon Commercial, for the production of UV stabilizers, main and specialty antioxidants, and additive blends.
Through its Polymer Additives division, Great Lakes offers a broad product and solution portfolio incorporating phenolic, phosphite, and thiosynergist antioxidants, a full line of UV stabilizers, nucleating and clarifying agents, and polymer stabilizer blends.
