FSCT announces preliminary plans for ICE 2003 and Technology Conference
The Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology’s 2003 International Coatings Expo (ICE) will get under way at a new time – 4:30 p.m. – and will feature an informal “Philadelphia Block Party” event to wrap up the exhibition’s opening day, the FSCT said in announcing preliminary plans for ICE 2003. The exhibition, along with the FSCT’s Annual Meeting and International Coatings Technology Conference, is scheduled for 11-14 November, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The event’s theme is “Spirit of Innovation.”
The “Block Party” on 12 November will offer ICE visitors and exhibitors to “network and conduct business in an informal, relaxed atmosphere while sampling some “Philly” favorites,” the Federation said. ICE show hours will be 4:30-8 p.m. on 12 November, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on 13 November, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 14 November. The Federation said 138 exhibitors have reserved space for the show, a total that is 20 percent higher than last year at the same date.
The Federation said the International Coatings Technology Conference, scheduled for 11-14 November, will be expanded to include one-half-day courses in addition to one- and two-day programs. New conference topics will include basic polymer technology and crosslinking, emulsification, improved durability, marine coatings, concrete coatings, combinatorial chemistry, and nanotechnology. Topics scheduled to return are introduction to coatings technology for the non-technologist, paint formulation and waterborne coatings.
The Annual Meeting program, scheduled for 12-14 November, will offer technical-paper sessions and “focused sessions” on technology advances. The program gets under way with the Mattiello Memorial Lecture, to be delivered by Charles R. Hegedus, Air Products and Chemicals Inc. Other Annual Meeting highlights will include the Technical Focus presentation, award competition papers, poster sessions and exhibitor spotlights.
