Elcometer Instruments Ltd, the UK's, Manchester based specialist in test equipment for quality control of coatings showed a comprehensive range of products at the recent Surface World 2000 Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham.

Elcometer has products for testing and monitoring coating processes from surface preparation, cleanliness and profile, through climatic monitoring and film thickness measurement to testing for adhesion, porosity and gloss of the finished coating. All to ensure that the coating will protect it's substrate from the ravages of corrosive environments for the expected coating life.

The products on show included its Elcometer 345 coating thickness gauges with the Simple Statistics feature in the Basic units and Auto Batching in the Top versions and the new Elcometer 200 series ultrasonic gauges for the measurement of material thickness (see Plate 4).

Other recently launched products such as the Elcometer 134 soluble salt detection kit, the Elcometer 141 new Paint Inspection Gauge (PIG) and the two new digital thermometers, Elcometer 212 pocket digital thermometer and Elcometer 214 infrared thermometer, were also featured.
