Research conducted by Mori and commissioned by Water UK in September 2004, showed that 65 per cent of the 16-34 age group, 62 per cent of 35-54 age group and 46 per cent of people aged 55+ thought they should be drinking a minimum of seven glasses of water a day. This is a positive result, however only 18 per cent of people actually drank seven or more glasses of water a day. The challenge for the water industry and its stakeholders is to increase the awareness of the health benefits of water in the public arena and improve the amount of water consumed by individuals.
