Accurate temperature monitoring means trouble-free operation of hydraulic and lube systems

Accurate temperature monitoring means trouble-free operation of hydraulic and lube systemsKeywords: Temperature, Hydraulics

A new range of temperature-sensing equipment, designed for use with hydraulic and lubrication systems, is now available from AC Fluid Technology of Birmingham.

The Bühler Thermotronik 61 series of electronic temperature controllers/monitors offers solid state electronics with high-visibility LED display, a choice of cable connectors, programmable set-points and non-volatile data memory (see Plate 11).

Since the viscosity of oil changes with temperature, the precise control of the actual temperature is crucial in both fluid power and lubrication systems. Indeed, many applications require continuous monitoring and adjustment of the oil temperature via heaters or coolers. The Thermotronik 61 series is designed for such applications with up to six 0-24v output-adjustable relays, a working range of –20°C to +120°C, 1 per cent accuracy and 1°C resolution.

Programming is easy using just three keys (mode, up/down), with alarms being settable in the range 0-99°C, with the bright three-digit LED display showing the settings. It is also possible to set the unit to monitor maximum/minimum temperatures recorded by the sensor. Settings are protected against unauthorised access by a locking key. Sensor fault or a broken wire is shown on the display.

Thermotronik units are housed as standard in a tough ABS case and are protected to a minimum of IP65, with higher protection available on request. The range encompasses eight standard models with varying numbers of relays for direct or remote mounting, depending on the application.

The Thermotronik electronic temperature controller/monitor range is compatible with a wide range of temperature sensors, including a wide range of sensors from Bühler, also available from AC Fluid Technology, giving a temperature control or monitoring solution for a wide range of applications.
