Materials and components testing is said to be simpler, quicker and much more repeatable with the latest digital control system from the Zwick Roell Group.

Available on most Zwick electromechanical testing machines, the new system maximises automatic control of all testing processes, from compression and tensile to flexure, shear and adhesion.

By closely regulating drive and positioning from start to finish of the test, the "testControl" system eliminates any need for operator intervention to cater for characteristics such as non-linearity. An adaptive controller continuously compensates, for irregular behaviour without deviation.

Thought to be the most advanced on the market, the system also provides more test information more quickly than earlier models. For example, the standard "testControl" has an online data transmission rate of 500Hz, using a standard PC. Zwick says that this innovative transmission protocol facilitates the instant capture of an event in real-time with simultaneous display on the VDU.

The PC variant enables the machine to be controlled from standard or master "testXpert" software, Zwick's technically advanced software established throughout the testing industry, to provide automatic analysis and recording.

In circumstances where a PC is undesirable (e.g. workshop floor), a stand-alone version is available with the same test control features.

Both stand-alone and PC variant comply with ISO 9000 and CE requirements.

With its modular construction and standard interfaces, the "testControl" system is readily amenable to upgrading with a range of options and models to customise the testing system to the application. The options include "Video Capture", the realtime visual recording of test sequences.
