New Whitford coating doubles the life of loaf tins
Keyword: Coatings
Commercial bakers can now take advantage of a new non-stick coating system that extends the life of the conventional loaf tin by as much as 100 percent. A minimum of 2,000 releases can be obtained from the new Supercoat 2000 non-stick coating which has been developed by Whitford Plastics in association with coating specialists, Northpoint.
In tests, Northpoint has proved that the new coating has doubled the life expectancy over traditional coatings, plus it has the added advantage of reducing the need for oils and grease and minimising burnt-on carbon deposits. This also meets with consumer approval as the battle to reduce fat consumption in the diet continues.
Supercoat 2000 can also dramatically cut application costs since it is a two-coat system, whereas traditional non-stick systems have ranged from five to seven coats, with numerous curing stages on top of this. Reducing the application process in this way can also limit the environmental impact of such an extensive application process.
"The cost saving implications also make the Supercoat system very attractive", states Howard Tomes, Sales Director of Northpoint. Commercial bakers can save on downtime and costs associated with reconditioning and recoating. Commenting on the successful development of Supercoat 2000, Whitford Plastics Sales and Marketing Director, Steve Bennett, says, "We are very encouraged by the test results and shall be working closely with Northpoint to develop this new technology further and to help market the benefits of the new system to the industrial bakeware sector".
