The Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials (IWM) in Freiburg, Germany, in collaboration with the seal manufacturer F. Burgmann and the ceramics company Elektro schmelzwerk Kempton, has been working on further development of ceramic floating-ring seals.
