Discusses the best way to make a presentation to senior management teams arguing that the key is to understand how the executives think. Claims the main mistake when pitching is overwhelming the presentation with information as this takes up too much time and fails to provide the analysis of information and recommendations that the managers require. Argues that the most important element is to understand what they expect from the meeting and recommends asking what the focus of the presentation should be. Discusses the advantages of “pre-selling” proposals by testing your concept on individual managers before the presentation. Mentions how best to rehearse the presentation so as not to be derailed by any questions that are fielded or if the time-scales for the presentation are reduced. Details how best to present the data so that it involves the audience, arguing that presentations cannot solely rely on the quality of the data. Insets discuss the pitfalls of PowerPoint and the things the senior team are likely to want from the presentation.ISSN: 0147-1554Reference: 41AL780
