Purpose – Describes how to change leadership behaviours that do demonstrate the level of honesty and integrity that is required. Design/methodology/approach – Sets out a series of steps that can be followed which will enable organizations to “detoxify” its leaders. Describes an approach to leadership which is called “green leadership” and outlines what this entails. Findings – Underlines the need to develop leaders who are competent, compassionate, have integrity and are committed to developing an organizational climate that encourages this among other employees. Argues that it is possible to help leaders to develop these traits. Originality/value – Explains how to develop ethical leadership.ISSN: 1465-6523Reference: 39AA500
