Purpose – describes Adobe’s approach to leadership development, discussing the content of its main leadership development program. Design/methodology/approach – based on her knowledge gained as Adobe’s senior vice-president of human resources, discusses why leadership development is seen as a high priority within the company. Explains how Adobe’s main leadership development program, Adobe Leadership Experience, was developed and its content, and indicates how successful it has been in developing the leadership talents of employees across the company’s global operations. Findings – highlights the three integrated phases within the Adobe Leadership Experience - an individual development phase that involves coaching and e-learning; a classroom experience taught by professors from major business schools and involving senior Adobe managers, including the chief executive, in leading discussions; and an action learning component. Cites the number of internal promotions to senior and general managers as evidence of the programme’s success.
