Education can help to integrate immigrants, say employers
Education can play an important part in helping to integrate immigrants into the EU, and also in the fight against racism and xenophobia, says the European employers' organization, Unice. The organization says that it would be strongly in the interests of Europe as a whole to adopt a more open immigration policy. Such a policy, however, must be based on detailed analysis of the lack of skills and long-term labour needs in an enlarged EU, characterized by increased labour mobility. Unice considers that, given the abolition of controls at many EU internal borders, a common European response to immigration is needed.
