Abstract

Recently delegates from about 150 countries met in Geneva at the preparatory committee meeting of the International Conference on Nutrition, held jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Senior officials representing agriculture, health and other related ministries prepared a draft declaration and plan of action that is intended to be one of the biggest attacks ever mounted against the world's nutritional problems. The plan will be submitted for endorsement to the International Conference on Nutrition, the most important conference of its kind for 50 years, to be held in Rome from 5 to 11 December 1992.
