Freight men take a down‐to earth view of airship revival
Abstract
Airships, those jumbo craft of pre‐war days, look set for a full‐scale revival with the development of ambitious research projects in Britain, the US, Germany, Russia and Japan. Advocates point out that improved construction techniques have overcome early hazards, and argue that airships offer a major freight‐carrying alternative to Britain's hard‐pressed road networks. But most freight operators are sceptical, saying that airships would be too costly. Report by John Seerey‐Lester.
