AMERICAN COATING TECHNIQUES: Solid lubricants that can reduce wear and increase cutting tool life
Abstract
WORK carried out at the United States Naval Air Development Centre indicates that coatings of solid lubricants can considerably cut down wear rates and, consequently, prolong the life of tools made from high‐speed steel. Furthermore, reduced machining and tool‐dressing times may be anticipated—so suggests an article by these joint authors in a recent “Molysulfide Newsletter”.
