Abstract
The FORTY‐FIRST THOMAS HAWKSLEY LECTURE to the Institution of Mechanical Engineers was given last December in London by Dr. F. P. Bowden, Ph.D., Sc.D., D.Sc, F.R.S., Head of the Research Laboratory for Physics and Chemistry of Surfaces, Department of Physical Chemistry, Cambridge. His paper was titled “Recent Studies in Metallic Friction”.
