Serials on Optical Disks: A Library of Congress Pilot Program
Abstract
The Optical Disk Pilot Program of the Library of Congress is described. The characteristics and differences between analog videodisks and optical digital disk technology are defined. The benefits of the optical digital disk, material selection, and the system configuration are discussed. It is concluded that this technology offers promise as a method of document preservation and retrieval.
