Abstract

The most commonly used stabilizers and thickeners in water‐based paints are Hydroxyethyl Cellulose and Carboxymethyl Cellulose. More recently, industrial grades of xanthan gum have been developed to enter such fields as interior paints and non‐drip paints because of the specific properties of the product. The original molecular structure of xanthan gum allows the performance of unique functions in agueous solutions.
