Abstract
The paint industry has always led the fight against corrosion and in the foreseeable future will continue to do so; which is not to belittle the important part played by other weapons in the anti‐corrosion armoury, such as sacrificial metal coatings, replacement of ferrous materials with alloys, cathodic protection systems, plastics fabrications, etc, etc. Perhaps this is a statement of the obvious to our readers, but the layman needs reminding of this fact from time to time, particularly as in this age his most frequent contact with corrosion is when it has eaten away at his pride and joy — the motor car. And when things go wrong, the first person who gets the blame is the paint manufacturer!
