The factory inspectorate's 150 years
Abstract
In September, the Factory Inspectorate was 150 years old, and is now part of the Health and Safety Executive formed in 1975 as a result of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. It currently employs some 850 Inspectors including headquarters staff, with considerable practical support from scientists, lawyers and other specialists. Although the following digest of the Factory Inspectorate's 150 years history has little to offer our readers technologically, it has a peripheral interest for all readers concerned with management and administration — Editor.
