Abstract
The market for synthetic polymer emulsions in Belgium, France, West Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK was over 850,000 tonnes dry weight in 1982. Although there is some pressure against the use of solvent‐based products which might be expected to favour use of aqueous emulsions, only slow growth to about 940,000 tonnes is forecast in 1987. Of more interest are changes in the types of emulsions used, particularly in the synthetic resin emulsion sector where the pressure polymers VA‐E and VA‐E‐VC are expected to show above average growth mainly at the expense of the more traditional PVA homo‐polymer and co‐polymers.
