CREATE OR ABDICATE: THE CITY'S DILEMMA
Abstract
The London Human Resource Development Group (LHRDG) is an independent association of senior personnel professionals. It was formed in 1987 to provide a clearer focus on human resource issues in inner London so as to ensure future success. The Group currently has a membership of 15 influential business institutions. The Group's first concern was to assess current and future human resource requirements within the business and financial community in London, and to identify possible constraints on realising future potential. During the immediate period after Big Bang, it was seen as essential that the City had a clear view of possible constraints on meeting business needs if current practices were continued in the area of human resource planning, which would in turn offset recruitment, training and staff development.
