Viewpoint: Singapore is still at the crossroads

Abstract
For two decades, Singapore enjoyed continuous high economic growth, almost regardless of the state of the rest of the world. Despite two oil crises and global recessions, the Singapore economy grew: robustly and apparently inexorably. A bad year meant GP growth of 5 per cent; a boom year meant 15 per cent.
