VILLAGE ACTION

Abstract

Recently there has been growing alarm at the decline of villages; numerous studies have pointed to the increasing deprivation of rural areas. Problems of the cities are mirrored in the countryside and intensified by one big factor — remoteness. But the urban areas are given priority for redevelopment; and in the words of the Association of County Councils, a redirection of attention and resources towards rural areas is needed urgently.
