English as she is written — 2. Verbs
Abstract
The verb is generally the most important word of an English sentence and should be chosen with care. It is the hinge upon which the whole sentence hangs. A well chosen verb can often save the careful writer the use of an extra adjective. Prose without vigorous verbs reads flat.
