Abstract

ONE SUBJECT that must absorb a large proportion of the time of a head of department is … the time‐table. College departments vary to a remarkable degree in size and scope, so that solutions to time‐tabling problems found effective in one may be of little use in another. Nevertheless, this is a very mixed department and some of the solutions described here may well be applicable elsewhere.
