INDUSTRIAL TRAINING OFFICERS
Abstract
So many important topics were raised in the House of Commons debate on 30th June when Mr Austen Albu made a major speech on the training of apprentices that it is difficult to single out any for special comment. One of Mr Albu's remarks deserves consideration, however, because it is so seldom raised in public. After rightly stating that “there would be no progress in numbers trained or quality of training unless the Government played a larger part”, Mr Albu went on to say that “training officers should not be superannuated foremen and managers or retired Service officers who were not trained in the work”.
