Participation through information disclosure

Abstract

Whilst industry and business await the revised legislation on industrial relations, employee protection, industrial democracy or the new Companies Act, they could well spend time reviewing one essential feature that will result—the need to disclose information to their employees. The need for there to be an information base for administering any law or for meaningful discussion or as a negotiation base does not appear to be disputed. However, there are many viewpoints on this subject. One factor is certain, there will be an enormous need for training in understanding and the use of any information that is either required by law or provided by enlightened employers ahead of the legal requirements, in order to secure their employees' participation and involvement in understanding their business.
