Aspects of apprenticeship — 8: Some Outstanding Problems of Apprenticeship

Abstract

Continuing his discussion on some of the practical problems of apprenticeship, the author expresses serious doubts about the desirability of final tests for apprentices however useful they may be in the different circumstances on the Continent. Nevertheless, on the subject of syllabuses and schemes of work he finds that a closer approach to the system in France, for instance, is urgently required. The quality of the instructor's work, and the reality and usefulness of liaison between college and firm are among other questions examined.
